- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- That it's a place my husband and I both love. We didn't want a serene, vanilla bedroom, we wanted something dark and moody but a little wild and fun too. This room was on a tight budget so shopping Craigslist and repurposing was our goal!
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- I keep the kids' toys out of our room, the laundry is not allowed to pile up in here, this is not a storage room, it is our bedroom, the only room in the house just for us. The TV is also not allowed in our room, we want it to be a place to relax, read and talk, TV can be noisy and distracting. We use pics of us as a couple and meaningful things to decorate. Keeping it clean and neat makes it a welcoming place to come to at night.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- There is a desk in our bedroom which I use it for journaling, storing our mementos and books. Our bedroom is a retreat for us, a place without distractions to focus on each other, which is what I think every Master Bedroom should be, a place to escape the chaos and stress of the world.

I love this!
In my house, the rest of the house is like this so my bedroom renovation will be more sedate. But I am definitely going to try to use the pointers on keeping the bedroom special and different. Having private space is so important when you have a family!
I like what you say about aiming not so much for serenity (though I wouldn't necessarily equate serene with "vanilla") as for a more moody, grown-up wild feeling--seems like that might be especially important with kids. I can see the room does have those qualities, though I would have liked to have seen more pictures of the entire space. What do you face when you wake up in the morning? What's on the left side of the bed? Even if it's windows, it would be good to see them to have a full sense of the room.
I REALLY like this room. Source for the throw blanket at the foot of the bed, please? And the color of the nightstands if you painted them and know it ;-)
I love this room. This is a bedroom I would be jazzed to wake up in every morning.
Love the red accents (side tables and pillows) and the blue accent wall with the gold mirror. Very nice!
I never would have picked that wallpaper! And I would have been wrong! It's really wonderful and fun and, as you said, grown-up.
Thank you for all the great comments! @Rachelious the throw is from Target and the nightstands are painted Rhubarb by Benjamin Moore.

Bellsonhopi Thank you! You can see a few more pics at my blog: http://www.thebloominghydrangea.com/2012/11/master-bedroom-progress-2.html Just painted our master bathroom gray last night so it's coming together!
Thank you Peregrina! It's actually a stencil on the wall and I was a little nervous when I decided on it but so glad I did.
Love the color palette and the brass bed is divine. But the stenciled wall gives me vertigo.
This is so bold. Love the colour on the nightstands and the brass bed. I'm going to check out your blog.
Fabulous!
very chic! btw, i've used that pillow fabric on one of my projects with a totally different look. I love it in your design, too. and I love the wallpaper and paint color
nice! the only thing i would change is having a really large piece of art on the plain wall instead of the starburst. but this is very chic
