And that in 2003, Ann Getty and Associates announced the launch of the Ann Getty House Collection, a line of custom furniture featuring original designs and authentic reproductions? So, what do you think? Take a look at some of her chair designs, after the jump!
Bone Chair: An extremely fine Anglo-Indian open armchair, with arched moulded top rail pierced by vertical splats. The front legs tapering and with elegant splayed back legs.
English Regency Dining Chair: An original set of 16 dining chairs c.1815, 14 of which are side chairs and 2 armchairs, are in the collection of Mrs. and Mrs. Gordon Getty of San Francisco.
Regency Side Chair: These Regency brass-mounted, painted and parcel-gilt dining chairs are early 19th Century.

I saw her room at this spring's Decorator Showhouse...
...it was one of the worst spaces in the house - Over the top with patterns on top of patterns.
All she is doing with this furniture collection is tacking her name on reproductions of things that her family already owns - She's not actually creating anything herself.
I love these chairs, though would put different fabric on them. The 2nd one is so crazy and great!
Pretty much. Her "designs" are just renditions of furnishings she owns. Repros question aside, this isn't my thing but find them interesting in their own ways. I like the Bone chair of the four. Though the sticker shock at the showroom.....
I know these cost $7825468 and are reproductions rather than designs and lack the charm of buying the same thing as an antique, but some of these are seriously awesome.
My fav is the bone chair. You can spend time collecting great chairs at antique stores (you have to be picky and patient -- like years and years patient) and restore them for a heck of a lot less than these would cost.
I've done it both ways. I've sprung for a few expensive pieces because I couldn't bear to wait for the right used original to come along, and I got some used peices for great prices and am having them restored. I like the mix of new and old.
hm. :-/ why design something to look like an antique piece? like others said - it is basically copying old designs. not really interesting.
