- What I Love About My Small Home:
- My little apartment is level with the tops of the trees growing in the courtyard below, making it feel like a grown-up treehouse where my inner child can play and my inner adult can relax. My inner child loves the gnome collection, cotton-candy pink coffee table and "pretty pretty princess" French provincial furniture; my inner adult loves the all-day sunshine from the big south-facing windows, having separate areas for work, play, food and rest, and coming home to a space that is mine and mine alone.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- I love throwing dinner parties, and I thought I'd have to give it up when I moved here. The kitchen was so tiny I had to replace the full-sized fridge with a mini to create counter space and avoid total claustrophobia, and as much as I rearranged furniture, I couldn't find the space for a dining table and chairs.
I figured nobody would want to come to a dinner party where they had to squat around a coffee table and climb over each other to get to the bathroom - until I started talking about it with friends and realized I wasn’t alone.
So, I got five small-apartment-dwelling friends together and started the Studio Supper Club. Every other Wednesday, one of us opens up her apartment and prepares a 3-course meal, and the rest show up with appetites and wine. It not only gives me the opportunity to entertain at home without feeling guilty about the space constraints, but to see how my friends have taken their small, cool spaces and made them their own.

I LOVE your floor plan! Thank you for all the cute little comments on it! Nice space too!
The silhouettes of the living room furniture make me think of Garfield comics.
i think your floor plan is going to steal the show!
I wanne be your friend and invited to your dinner party :-)))
such a cute apt..
Is that contact paper covering the fridge and backsplash? Where did you find that?
Best floor-plan ever. Obviously.
Fantastic! You incorporated so many smart ideas and with so much whimsy and style. Great job.
Adorable! You are brilliant. So comfy-looking and refreshing. Great use of space.
I had the same pretty pretty princess "french provincial" furniture when I was a tiny princess -- including the pink canopy bed. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
@Bklynkiki - yes, it's contact paper. I *think* I got it at the Home Depot on 23rd St in Manhattan, but I'm not 100% sure. It was a couple of years ago and it was only supposed to be temporary until I could put up a grownup backsplash, but I fell in love with it and it proved remarkably durable despite a lot of steamy cooking sessions!
OK, NOW we're cooking with gas. Love the princess furniture, pink table, blue desk. So cute!
Luv the watercolor effect with the books and the cotton candy pink coffee table
super kwel!
I love the Studio Supper Club idea!
I love your pink coffee table! I have that same table, in beat up shiny brown wood, and I have often wondered if I would like it better painted. I definitely do.
very cute little place! and such personal style! also very clear photos which make it easy to understand the space (wish more entries would be this clear), charming floor plan.
I think I would like to be your friend! You sound super cool. I love the studio supper idea, good for you!
Anna, I think I like your sense of humor almost as much as your place. I hope I get to see your awesome shampoo shelf!
love your floor plan! :D

Love your floor plan, your colours, your attitude - everything.
The floor plan alone would have been enough to make you a favorite. But you completely cinched it with the Studio Supper Club. Anyone who places that kind of priority on good food. warm surroundings and wonderful friends should run their own small country.
The floor plan rocks. Not only do I love your furniture, but telling us where you got each piece was wonderful, too. I love the contact paper you used on the fridge and the backsplash-- it was a really great way to a) add pizzazz to the kitchen and b) make it more personal. Your bedroom mirror is beautiful.
wait a minute, the branch tree jewelry stand is from Urbanoutfitters???? I love it and i want it!!!
I'm having a twinge of nostalgia here, too-- I *used* to have a pink coffee table. Those were the days, I guess. Now I live with a house full of boys who break my stuff! LOVE the mirror over the bed- great find!
I absolutely love that you included cat food bowls on your floor plan.
I love the garden gnomes.
I really like the alternating week dinner party idea that your friends do together! Very neat way of spending quality time together!
Voting on the basis of the hoops alone.
you are one very organized super femmy young woman. I am both impressed and scared. Excellent job at putting your personal style everywhere and decoupaged fridge, oh my!
My hat off to you!!!! Good Job!
