Anne E. Collins, managing editor of PointClickHome, has recently launched a new personal blog called Seeing Design, where she's going to be posting a series of room makeovers adding up to a full tour of her home. The series
started off beautifully today with her bedroom, a simple, un-fussy space with lots of DIY inspiration.
Collins chose simple furnishings so as not to draw attention away from the room's lovely original architectural details. The Ferm Living wallpaper she hung, paired with a lovely ocean blue paint, is both sophisticated and calming.
The fireplace, as it turned out, was hidden behind a marble panel that had been installed to block the chimney. Collins and her husband undertook to excavate it and painted the mantel white to lighten up the room. You can read the whole fireplace saga here.
The desk and office area nestles into a corner without seeming cramped or out of place. And gauzy white curtains were just the right choice to balance the rich blue and wood accents of the rest of the room.
