Name: Ann Porsmose
Years lived in: 1
Our architect friend Ann Porsmose built much of this house herself. Just one of the many ways it is green: it's designed to be shared. I's a full time residence for Ann's mother and her boyfriend, and a sometime vacation house for Ann. Clever and space-saving solutions are literally part of the design.
Ann used hems throughout her house to expand the sense of space and to create more useful areas in less square footage. A hems a balcony or mezzanine space created by lofting part of a room. The space underneath is often used for a cozy seating area, and the space on top may contain a bed, study, or serve as a quiet place to read.
