A few weeks ago we talked about making a staked canopy for your outdoor summer adventures. Yesterday over at Design Sponge, we noticed a free-standing canopy that would be perfect if you don't have the option of sticking stakes in the ground. It's another way to customize your outdoor space, even if you're using a city park!
When it comes to outdoor spaces, even though most people think of lush grass and trees, downtowners might not have that luxury. If the only place you have to set up for a picnic is the roof of your building or the alley way around the corner, then using stakes to set up a canopy aren't really an option.
Instead try using buckets like they've used here and try making 4 poles worth so you don't need to depend on hooks to hold up the back side. Although the idea isn't rocket science, sometimes it helps to see things in action before you take the leap to make things happen. DIY feels a little easier when you have a goal in sight!
