We've always been envious of those people who just seem to get it. They're always coming up with easy solutions for every possible problem that comes up. We, on the other hand, are always having "Duh!" moments. You know, where one of those "get it" types mentions casually how they keep their remote from falling through the sofa cushions—while we sit there, furiously taking notes to share the tip with you.

In case you haven't noticed, we tech bloggers are apt to have some pretty "Duh! Why Didn't I think of that!" moments:
- Frugal for Life reminded us that a metallic Sharpie marker makes an instant cord label.
- A quick office hack reveals that an old coiled phone cord can help wrangle wires.
- A Lifehacker reader reminded us that there'san easy way to clean blenders.
- And Gweneth Paltrow showed us how to save our bathroom counters with potholders.
And now, here's another one from a Lifehacker reader: Stop losing your remote between the couch cushions by always resting it button-side down. The little rubber buttons act like grippy feet, keeping your remote safely in place.
Yes, it's simple. And yeah, we know many of you "get it" types have already figured this out. But for the rest of us, it's a great tip that might save you from missing the first few minutes of your favorite show.
Do you guys have any more "duh!" moments to share? Let us know!

Shaw's Original Fir...
LOL, I do this. It's funny to know someone else does it too.
I do it but more because my two cats both have their (very frequent) moments of insanity...I got tired of them changing the channel on me.
I set them face down, but it's because the clang against the glass coffee table makes my skin crawl!
Unfortunately this tip doesn't work very well for the tiny apple remote, which always ends up in the cushions! :)

This is hilarious! I've been doing this for years and it never once dawned on me that it might be a handy tip for someone else.
I do this, too. Great minds think alike :)
It would also be a great way to keep the remote buttons from getting dusty!
I rest my remote upside down too. And then my cat steps on it and hits the "off" button...
