Our post, Shoes Off, led us to another great entryway makeover from one of our readers. Who would've thought such a clean, streamlined look could be so homey?
Lamps, mirror, shoe bins, basket, and coat hooks are all from IKEA. The drawers in the HEMNES shoe storage cabinets are used for shoes of course, but also for hats, mittens, scarves, etc.
Having a plan for organization right at the door is just so important, and this set-up looks beautiful and has a place for everything.
Check out the full details on this entryway makeover at Craftpad.

Makes me wish I had an entry/hall so I could copy this! Love it!
what a cute little entryway! i think we have enough wall space in our "entry" to fit one shoe cab and a smaller mirror of course... we defintely have a shoe problem in the house... my hubby likes to switch up his shoes very often- depending on what hes doing and tends to take them off and leave them wherever he feels like it!
I WANT those cabinets. Drool. There is never enough storage for hats, scarves, mittens or shoes.
IzzyIzzy,
I hear you! I had been looking at some IKEA shoe cabinets and totally overlooked the Hemnes series (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60156121) till I saw this post.
We have a narrow hallway coming in from the garage and we needed some really narrow solutions. This post is totally inspiring.

I fantasize about adding a mud room to the back of my garage. One day ...
In the meantime, I get to ooh and ahh over the one my friend included in the new house she and her husband just built. Dreamy:

I guess I'm the minority here, but she went to Ikea? Where's the inspiration in that? It is a lovely hallway, but where the personalization?
Why is this on ohdeedoh? Is there a toddler in there??
Patrick,
I just wanted to clarify that we have a family of four and adding some organization to the hallway gave the children a way to organize their things rather than leaving them on the floor. The kids love putting their shoes in their own "cubbies" and hanging their jackets on the new hooks which are now at their height.

Was sort of just teasing, mostly because I think it has broader appeal than just for homeowners with little ones... I think it should be posted on AT (although Ikea gets some, shall we say, strong reaction over there!)
It is actually quite lovely and hope you did not think I meant otherwise!
I think it looks great! Awesome use of a very tight space!
Lizliterarius - she says in the blog post that her husband had just finished it and she still needs to hang things on the wall. In any case, thousands of people go to Ikea and never have entryways that look this good, am I right? I never get tired of seeing how people use readily available products in real life. And there aren't a zillion options, Ikea or otherwise, for the 'shoe problem' when your entry is as narrow as that one (and also mine), believe me.
I love it. It is clean and streamlined. And seeing the creative things that Colleen does over on Craftpad I know she will be adding her own touches.
p_capucine,
I wasn't trying to be difficult, but I still don't see the big deal about buying a mirror, 2 shoe cabinets and 2 lamps and putting them into the entry. I agree, the space looks nice and is a great use of a narrow room! But where's the meat in this post- other than a plug that Ikea stuff can make your life better. We all KNOW that! It's their motto!
Sorry for wanting more unique design on a design blog. Hope I didn't offend anybody.
Lizliterarius,
You are not the only one. As soon as I saw the picture, I recognized the layout from the latest catalog. That exact setup - two shoe Hemnes shoe cabinets in a row, the Hemnes mirror above, the hooks, even the two lamps (exact same ones from the catalog picture) above it.
Don't get me wrong, it is one of my favorite pages from the catalog, and probably why I recognized it here, but all it needs is the collection of black and white photos and a little girl on tiptoes looking into the cabinet for it to be complete!
