I love the idea of a brightly painted interior door. But I don't think I have it in me to actually go through with it.
If you're like me and want a dash of bright paint on your doors but can't bear to paint those panels, check out this idea over at Martha Stewart Living. Don't do the obvious and paint one or both faces of the door; paint the edge. It's a subtle sliver of color that really makes a nice impact without overpowering. It's a great idea for children's rooms too. This way they can truly pick their own paint color.

Nomade Express Slee...
Nice detail. Reminds me of Christian Louboutin shoes!
this is a neat idea...
No, That's the first thing that will make it stick.
My young son wanted his room painted blue-ALL blue. In fact, he wanted 3 different blues and blue bedding, a blue rug, etc. I love color and even I thought it was a bit too much-we even did the ceiling in a teal. After I saw this idea from Martha, I painted the edge of his door(natural cypress) orange. He loves it and it really helps the visual balance of the room. He really likes to surprise people with it when he shows off his room, too.
Woo..i like this idea!
Didn't we see this same thing in an art piece that was mounted and not frame--and she painted the sides of that in red too. Hummm, trend??
I did it, before I even saw that article! Maybe Martha copied me?!? Just kidding.
There's a picture of it here: http://luckybydesign.blogspot.com/2010/10/bedroom-redesign.html
What is that cool wallpaper in the bathroom??
I like the idea, but dependent of the color, it might look like an unfinished door if one isn't careful.
I'm so doing this.
I like it.
Oh Martha. I heart you.
A great first step on the path to bold =]
Love it, but would totally make my old already-painted doors stick.
I'm all on board with this idea.
Looks great
Reminds me of left on painters tape.
Same here. I even have some painters tape still stuck to the top of a door frame. Maybe I'm trendy?
Love this idea!
I love it too! Easy to do... I'm prone to not finishing things...
Love this idea! Sticking shouldn't be a problem if you sanded down the current paint a little before adding the new color. And it's such a small area it would be done in no time!
Absolutely love it - especially in a door that is only occasionally opened, or a door whose edge is mostly out of view. A bathroom door, especially. Or a pantry. What a neat little bit of unexpected color.
