Q: I've had my eye on this amazing sectional from Room & Board for two years now. I love the curve and modern, simple look of the design. I have been crossing my fingers and checking back often, in hopes that it goes on sale, but no luck. At $4K it's a bit out of my price range. Can anyone suggest a sectional with a similar look?

I like Scandavian design for slim line furniture pieces but they too can be pricy. But you do get what you pay for.

I know people either love or hate Ikea, but on the off chance you don’t hate them I think this is close to what you’re looking for: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S29840638/#/S69853054 except for the legs (which are easily painted). For half the price, it’s not a bad option!
FWIW, I’m the second owner of my Ikea sofa, and I never expected it to last this long or be this comfy. I have the Ektorp 2+2 and each side is the side of a twin XL mattress.
Open a savings account and put a little money in it every month. Good furniture is worth waiting for. R&B stuff lasts and is worth it.
Get a KARLSTAD from ikea, 2 chaise lounges + sofa, Sivik dark gray. Don't use the included legs, use some CAPITA legs. Done.

I always suspect that posters like the first commenter are a bit too tightly wound. Considering I've spent the last 6 months trying to figure out the magical "simple obvious google search" that would yield a comfortable, high quality non-ikea grade grey sofa with low arms and a back under 3,000 from a reputable seller. It's not that obvious of a search. And I can totally see why someone would throw up their hands in frustration. I personally really appreciate the "design noob friendly" good questions answers like this and the help from most AT commenters.
By the way, in my search I wound up opting for the Henry sectional from West Elm when I finally did throw my hands up. (http://www.westelm.com/m/products/henry-sectional-g238/?pkey=csectionals)
Craiglist, if you are near a large city. I bought my Room and Board sectional for $900 off the Chicago Craiglist, when the same couch was still selling on the RB website for about $3200. Yes, I checked to make sure it was very clean. It worked for us, since I have two kids, three cats, and a very small house, so things get used (and abused) alot.
This was replacing the Ikea couch that didn't last two years (a Tylosand). Good luck --
Q: @LGS - Why would AT need anymore filler?/They already have enough Sponsored posts to fill the gap. These are actually some of my favorite posts...Depending on the Q&A...
A:
I've had my Ikea Karlstad for about 2 1/2 years and it still looks great... I'm saving up for the chaise lounge. I would go for that if you don't want to spend the extra $$$.
Depending on where you live, you would be surprised at how affordable custom made furniture is now especially in this economy. I got a custom sofa in LA for 900 dollars and its better quality then if I had spend 3k. Go look around for furniture makers if this is what you want, im sure you can have it made for less.
Have you checked CB2?
If the angled bit is not essential to you, then Karlstad seems pretty obvious. 10-year limited warranty, so you should have some confidence in it (keep your receipts....)
@neverheidae
lol... from what I've read, west elm quality can be more suspect than ikea for the price. What kind of warranties do west elm offer?
@mkhey
Haha!
The only Q&As I resent AT for posting is the ones where the asker is "what is this?" and the answer is so obviously ikea, I can't understand how an AT blogger doesn't recognize it/considers it worth the effort to post it as a question rather than just fire off an individual reply to the asker. (There was a question about the sater, "where can I get this, it looks expensive?" orz)
Seconding @david @ justveggingout.co though; most of cb2's sectionals look quite a bit like this.
This isn't as simple, the bottom cushions are tufted, but Z Gallerie has a gorgeous grey sectional. I have been eyeing it for a while but I have yet to sit on it so I can't make any claims about its comfort! Just a suggestion. :)

FWIW, we purchased a sectional from IKEA almost five years ago and it's on its last legs. It's literally falling apart! Granted, we are constant movie-watchers, so we're on it a lot! But it might be worth it to wait and invest. Or do as suggested above and scour Craigslist!
Gus Modern (carter sectional or any other) is similar. And reasonably priced. And I think they are having their annual 20% off sale right now.
Doesn't have that cute little turn though, but you can get it in dark grey.

My couch looks a little bit like this, but it's a little smaller for my tiny living room. It's not AS modern looking, but I love it and it's so so comfy! I got it for a little under $1,000 at World Market (favorite affordable store for house stuff!)

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. Truly appreciated. What I loved about R&B sectional is that little curve. We have an awkward and small living room so this is just the perfect fit.
@LGS Yikes! I just wanted some suggestions from my AT aficionados. Obviously I googled for similar options before posting here. No need to be nasty.
Which did you buy? We watch a lot of movies too, but limited budget... Thanks in advance.
