Apartment Therapy Meetups Everywhere
Total People: 421
Meetups Initiated: 114

This is a very exciting, brand new, totally grass-roots application of Apartment Therapy offline. Congratulations to all of you who got to your meetups last week, and thanks for being a part of our community!

We followed up immediately afterward to get pictures and stories, and to celebrate those intrepid community members who were the first to meet. Take a look and then check out the 48 meetups that are getting ready to meet this month. If there's not one near you, start one!

Last week, out of the 114 meetups where at least one person signaled their intention to meetup, at least 16 gained enough momentum to gather a crowd and choose a location. This is pretty darn good for the first time and we expect more next month!

Many were also one person meetups, where one person was waiting for others to join them. Since all meetups start with at least one person signaling their intention, this will always happen, but I hope more and more find their way to becoming groups over time.

In addition, I'm going to use these meetup groups to meet readers and organize meetings when I travel. For example, later this month, I'm going to be in LA, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta. I look forward to hooking up with these folks soon.

Best, Maxwell

Atlanta Meetup

Organizer: Taryn Fiol

"It was a small crowd (5 people), but great to sit and chat at a local favorite, Octane Coffee Bar.

Maxwell mentioned that we should send pictures to you. Here in Atlanta, we were lucky enough to have professional photographers among the bunch, Anna and Spencer (http://www.annaandspencer.com) who snapped the shots I've attached."

Boston (Cambridge) Meetup

Organizer: Catherine Dowgos

"The meetup took place at Algiers Coffee House in Cambridge, which is a great spot for drinking fresh pots of loose tea with a nice ambiance. Only six of us made it out, but others expressed that they would be interested if they knew more in advance. Despite the small amount of people that showed up, it was a wonderful time. We discussed all sorts of issues... from design woes, to innovative ideas for limited space and personal design tastes. One attendee even brought tile, counter top, and paint samples for her kitchen renovation to get some feedback. It was fantastic!

Not only did we share stories, but we swapped all sorts of information. We also had few laughs reminiscing over some horrible apartment fixtures we have had to live with, and how we camouflaged them. The night was ended with a cookie sampling from my blog, crisiskitchen.blogspot.com.

It was a treat to meet other design enthusiasts in our area, and we even discussed having more regular AT gatherings around the city. I look forward to the next one!"

Waverly, Iowa Meetup

Organizer: Erika Lindgren

"The Meetup in Waverly, IA on Wednesday night had six adults and two toddlers in attendance. The photos turned out poorly, otherwise I would send some!"

Denver Meetup

Organizer: Laura Johnson

"Just letting you know I was the only one at the Denver meetup. Perhaps next time :("

Poor Laura got stood up in Denver, but it looks like the five who signed up will come out in July. I'm rooting for them.
