It takes three weeks to do and only three hours to film the final product. With the film crew in at 8 yesterday morning, I ran around primping and making sure everything looked perfect. They filmed Laurie and Michael in "lifestyle moments" and did a sweep of the whole room empty. Gail, the host, walked in to see the finished product and showered everyone with praise,
while she kidded me for not believing that I could make a nursery work in a living room that also had to act as a dining room and office in the upcoming months. The final "funny" had to do with the fact that Michael got to keep his "baby" (the giant flat screen television), and Laurie didn't have to see it since I was able to introduce the Apartment Therapy Plasma Cozy - a linen cover that slips easily over the screen, allowing it to quietly fade into the background of any room.
With this episode in the can, and everyone out of Michael and Laurie's apartment, all are happy, TIRED and ready for the weekend (...and the arrival of the twins in the next month!).
Maxwell left teaching in 2001 to start Apartment Therapy as a design business helping people to make their homes more beautiful, organized AND healthy. The website started up in 2004 with the help of his brother, Oliver.
