As I sit in my Dallas Hotel (the Palomar) before leaving for the airport to fly to Atlanta for the last leg of my national tour (which includes double booked days and book signings at night) I wanted to catch my breath and share with you some images from Chicago right through to Los Angeles, where I left just a few days ago. It's been an amazing trip so far, filled with lots of first meetings and great goodwill surrounding what we're doing with the blog.
There will be more pics to come, so enjoy this first taste of these two great cities:
Chicago - Tuesday to Friday of last week
• Book signing at Ligne Roset
• Lotsa meetings, visits, and cab rides
Los Angeles - Friday to Sunday (just this past weekend)
• Book signing at Heath Ceramics
• Visit to Dwell on Design Show & one show house
• Lotsa driving around in a rental car
Next post will be Dallas and Atlanta!

Thanks as well to Camilla Fabbri, who runs Family Chic, and did a really nice write up of my talk in Chicago. You can check out the post here: An Evening with Apartment Therapy’s Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan

I love this pic I took of Abby in Brentwood. This is the one before Gregory photoshopped out the cars, and which i put in the slideshow.

oh no! must have missed the Dallas book signing-where was it? And the Palomar is very chic indeed...a real gem. It used to be an old ramshackle motel; very seedy. But revamped & now next to Mockingbird Station & the Angelika Theater, it draws some very stylish people. As a former New Yorker & transplanted Dallasite, hope you get to come back & experience the interior world here a bit more.
p.s. if the signing hasn't happened & a place is needed...Legacy Books in Plano would be an excellent choice:

Please tell me "the corn cob buildings" are not the only architecture you saw in Chicago! Marina Towers aka "The Corn Cob buildings" are great and all, but this city is chock full of fabulous architecture. Please tell me you saw more than just Marina Towers!
ooooh, is Bountiful Home the place with the uranium glass cake stands? Kicking myself for not picking one or 8 of them up when I was there last.
Major points for coolness in my book (like you needed them) for dining in my hood while you were in Chicago--Pilsen.
Thanks again for the invaluable resources and the entertainment.
The Chicago event was great! I really enjoyed the talk. Thanks Maxwell! -Lea
I say Maxwell needs to come to SF!!
I'm with DianaEFC on this one...!!!
Too bad you missed the Walnut house in LA - it was the highlight of DOD for me.
woah! grace is being *very* coy :P
Thanks to meeting you in Chicago, I now view the perceived problems with my condo as symptomatic of other issues in my life. I am inspired to declutter as much as possible, starting with my ridiculous collection of black shoes! Thanks for the kick-start!
