Apothecary jars for the bathroom are hot right now. We've been seeing them all over the place. We like this look, since it keeps supplies in clear view and forces a little bathroom organization.
This set shows the new Hotel Collection Apothecary Accessories from Macy's ($19.99 - $29.99). To achieve a similar look, you could purchase apothecary jars from a craft supplier. We found some nice ones at SaveOnCrafts.

For a more modern look, we like this set from the Container Store ($7.99 - $9.99). Use them to store Q-tips, cotton balls, soaps, or anything that you don't mind having on display.

If you want the real thing (which is cheaper to boot [though no soap dishes or dispensers]), American Science and Surplus (5316 N. Milwaukee) has lots of Erlenmeyer flasks and such. I keep my rice, lentils, etc. in medical jars labeled "Tongue Depressors," "Gauze," and so on that I bought there. There are lots of lab supply stores online too. Somehow buying Macy's or Container Store knockoffs of a unimprovable basic just really bums me out.
I second Olga's comment. For even cheaper, creepier fun, you can use antique medical stuff. My favorite bathroom accessory was acquired for pennies at a NW IN flea market--it is a molded glass flask stamped with "urine sample" and is now home to my toothbrush.
They look so clean in bathrooms. I think Ikea has something similar.
