Ryan is a total Mac addict, and he's got a bunch of different machines to prove it. Instead of getting rid of his old gear, he tends to hold onto it. What's interesting is that most of it still boots up quite nicely. When not in use, they make some interesting additions to the decor of his home office.
Ryan is a 17-year old student from the UK. He's in his second year of college studying photography and media. He's got a Mac Mini connected to a 22'' Samsung 226BW monitor and MacBook Pro 13". He uses his MacBook Pro to do all of his photo editing. Some of his vintage tech includes a PowerMac G4 with an Apple Studio Display (17"), eMac, graphite G4, and an old MacBook.
The 22" Samsung monitor serves as his HDTV and media center. His MacBook Pro sits on a stand on top of his Rotel amplifier, that powers the speakers of his setup. The amp is also vintage. It belonged to his grandfather and was made in 1976. He uses a Magic Mouse and an Apple keyboard. A simple desk lamp provides adequate lighting for all of his work.
This home office is located in the room of a student. As such, it's limited in space, but Ryan was able to make his corner office really nice by adding some nice touches. The vintage tech is really interesting. We also like how his desk is leaning against a bookshelf, which he can use to store tech as well. His next upgrade should include a large monitor, probably the 27-inch Apple Cinema Display, so that he can really see his photos well. He could also replace the 22-inch Samsung monitor with an HDTV, but since he's budget conscious, he'll probably delay those purchases. He mentions that his 22-inch Samsung is quite adequate for him now, as it's HD-capable.
This is a good home office and it the nice use of space makes it definitely an interesting model to use for your own bedroom-based home offices.
