Each new release from Apple showcases the genius of their marketing. The hype machine is full tilt as every tech blog's got their claws dug into the rumor mill weeks and months before actual announcements. Real or fake "prototypes" make the news. Store websites slip with inventory listings that may or may not be planted. Apple schedules an event and the frenzy builds up. Their store goes down and the crowd goes nuts (it's been pointed out many times and places that Apple takes down their store just to build suspense and work their audience, not so much that they are incapable of updating their website on the fly).
They come on stage and wax poetic about how awesome they are as a company and how well they are doing while the rest of the economy sucks. They stall and stall and then finally announce their magical new device and it becomes official. Everyone cheers and claps and celebrates a new way to spend their money.
The new Apple iPhone 4S. It's twice as fast and has a bajillion better features than the competition (statistically proven with pie charts). Love it or hate it? Or could care less? Oh what fun, Apple.
