Augmented Reality done well is something we find impressive and cool. There are quite a few AR concepts out there that we'd love to see as a reality and it's always great to see a real life app come close to an AR idea you have in your head. One way in which AR can be a big help today is in choosing the right products for your home.
3 Ways Augmented Reality iPhone Apps Can Help in the Home:
To Help Choose the Right Size TV: Not sure if that big screen TV is going to be too big for your space? Try it on for size with the Panasonic AR Simulator (as long as it's a Panasonic TV). As you can see in the above video, this app lets you virtually try on various TVs in your home by using the built in camera of the iPhone.
To Help Choose Window Coverings: The Window Shopper by Blinds.com does what its name implies and helps you to shop for window coverings. Use this app to test drive the look of blinds and curtains in your space.
To Help Choose Furniture: It can be challenging to visualize just how that new chair will look in your living room but thankfully there is an app for that. SnapShop is a catalogue turned up to 11. Sure you can browse furniture with this app, but thanks to the AR technology, you can also see how it would look in your own home.
While these apps were all designed for the iPhone we'd love to hear about home decor apps for other platforms. What are some of your favourites?
