You may not know this, but Barbie's got a new career... and new digs. The American Institute of Architects recently held a contest to re-imagine Barbie's dream house, and the winners—Ting Li, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP and Maja Parkler, Assoc. AIA—gave Barbie a design-focused home complete with a greenhouse on the roof, solar panels, operable shading devices, bamboo flooring, a low flow toilet and sink features, and locally sourced and manufactured materials and furnishings.

Sadly, Mattel has no plans to actually produce the house, but they will make a $1000 donation to CHAD, a charter high school in Philadelphia focused on architecture and design, in the name of each architect who submitted a design.
