Name: Ari (2 months)
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Decorating Ari's nursery has been my favorite space to decorate. Ever. I wanted color to be the biggest impact in the room, especially to help convey the feeling of land and sky.
I used "Emerald Isle" by Benjamin Moore for the lower border around the room, and also painted his dresser this color as well. "Van Duesen Blue" by Benjamin Moore covered the remaining wall space, and was also used for the clouds on the wall mural.
I started with the wall mural, which was inspired by “Daydream” wallpaper
by Hygge & West. When I say "inspired", I pretty much mean I painted the wall to match the wallpaper as closely as possible. The graphics on that wallpaper were of course dreamy and whimsical, but also added enough contrast for the new baby while not going too "baby-ish" on him.
I love the artwork in his nursery, even to the point where I was tempted to move it to other parts of the house. I wanted cohesive artwork through the use of color, but eclectic as far as imagery goes. Most of it was found at peddlers malls. The "Wild and Free" lion print is from Meeralee
on Etsy, and the large framed drawing is a piece I made in college.
The furniture is all mix and match, I took whatever I could get. The crib and book shelves are new from Target, the rocker was handed down from a friend, the side table was found at a local peddlers mall, and the dresser/changing table is a special piece that came from my own childhood bedroom (just had to update it with some new hardware and paint).
Thanks, Lauren! Readers, visit Lauren at her blog Dahl House, especially for more detail on the wall mural.
