Design: Armchair Quarterback
Materials: Antique wingback chair, custom printed 100% cotton twill.
Designer: Doug Brown and Bren Ahearn - Manmade Workshop
"The Armchair Quarterback is the first piece produced by Manmade Workshop. It's an antique wingback chair that has been reupholstered in a new custom fabric design. The sporty flowers fabric is a gender blending design in pinks and blues that includes flowers composed of footballs and baseballs overlaid on a vibrant plaid. "

"The contemporary textile design fitted on the classic form of the chair results in a playful critique of traditional gender roles in a domestic scene. An up-cycled ottoman (found on the curb) is reupholstered in a similar sporty flowers pattern printed at a smaller scale in bright pink and blue. Rounding out this trio of Manmade Workshop pieces is the 5'x8' panel of sporty flower fabric stretched over a wood frame. Who says the art shouldn't match the furniture?!
Mandmade Workshop is a new design and art collaborative run by the husband-and-husband team Bren Ahearn and Doug Brown. First and foremost, we make things that make us smile, and in the process we hope to also make other people smile and think about how we treat each other and our planet."

Z2 iPod Dock and Wi...
This entry is a little confusing. I'm not sure if they made the chair, made the fabric, found the chair and reupholstered it, or actually printed the fabric themselves... or some combination of that. So I'm not sure how to judge this. And while I love the colors in the fabric, it kind of looks like it's for children's furniture. Almost every other fabric I've seen with footballs and/or baseballs has been intended for kids.
I'm sorry. It's ugly. I wouldn't want that in my house.
Two thumbs up for Doug and Bren!! Every home needs a splash of color and a touch of humor. The fabric would work for kids or adults. Good job!
I'm sorry, it's hideous and a waste of a great antique wingback chair!
I like football, love baseball but hate that chair
Yikes.
Like the design of the chair, but not the fabric. I can't see it co-ordinating with any other elements in a space, and the colour and design of the fabric is too jangly to make it a contrasting focal point.
I wouldn't want this for my hubby or my son but for a sports lovin momma I like it! Great job!
I'm sorry, the fabric is a miss for me. I think the color palatte is a bit off and I'm not a fan of the composition of the "flowers."
Dislike.
how is this a showcase? It's not for me but im sure for someone... im just not getting how this fits the contest.
Wow, that is headache inducing.
The chair is phenomenal. I've actually seen it. I find it a clever and artful statement. Although it is not for everyone, it is for those who have the mindset to think outside of the box. Well done, Bren and Doug! AMB
I'd have to see it in a room. It could be a statement piece. Or it could be a bit crazy.
