Since the invention of indoor plumbing, we have worked to elevate our room of necessity to a room of reprieve. We’ve fussed over paint, tile, fixture placement and shower curtains. But what about art?
It may not be the first thing you think of when planning a bathroom, but there’s no denying the impact a few well-placed works can have in the commode abode. Whether it’s a gallery wall, an oversized print or one small, precious piece – artwork in the bathroom has the power to transform, restore and reignite one of the most mundane spaces in the home. So go ahead – be bold, make a statement and reimagine the primping palace in your home.

I don't know what bugs me more about #3: the wallpaper itself or the fact that the toilet isn't centered.
Wouldn't any paper-based art get damaged from steam from the shower?
#16 is so amazing! That green with the white subway tiles is "so fresh and so clean clean"!

I like the black and white stripes. I want to see more of that bathroom. The glass shower seems to open it up pretty nicely.
Wow... First off- "Clean up on aisle five." Someone is spamming the heck out of this post. Ha.
Art in the bathroom is fine as long as it isn't anything you really care about. Humidity (and in gerneral any proximity to water) is one of Art's greatest nemeses. I would stick to cheap posters and found art dans le bain.
the only inspiration i get from the last one.. is a reminder to buy tylenol.. lol that would be too much..
I know this is not the point of this post, but oh my goodness, I want the copper tub in picture #1......
I also want the copper tub... and I love the use of the ledge in #13.
I would hate to be drunk & have to use #3. o.O
Also? Is there no mirror in #6?
The steamy environment is the trickiest part about decorating bathroom walls. I hang topographic maps in mine. I like the way they look, they remind me of my favorite hikes and they're waterproof.
Ann-Marie, those things bug me too but the fact that the picture is crooked makes it even worse!
misskitty I LOVE that there isnt a mirror, just an affirmation of beauty! the flirt at the Cingular store made my phone say "well hello beautiful" when i turn it on about a decade ago and it still does. I love it and it reminds me of that non mirror. maybe they have a full length on the back of the door, that would be good enough.
I love #5, however impractical! Who needs a mirror when you wake up and see "you look marvelous" everyday?!
#7 is definitely interesting and unique and could be used in multiple applications. I think it would be great for a boy's room or a mountain cabin. It also reminds me of LGN's post: The Map Room http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2011/04/map-room.html
how odd---I'm listening to sonic youth's goo this moment (#16)
the map above the marble bath #8 is pretty great
