To pull together our ultimate gift guides this year, we're asking the experts: YOU! If there's nary a white space on your wall, what art and artists do you already have and love? What do you hope to unwrap? From posters and prints to paintings and photographs, let us know what's worth making room on your wall for.
So art lovers, share with us in the comments: what do you hope to get?

I'm sorry, but nobody should ever pick out art for somebody else. It's fine for specific individuals here to say what they would like, if somebody who is shopping for them sees the post and gets inspired. But a list of suggested gift art for a generic audience is just wrong! Art is too personal, intimate even. If it doesn't speak to you directly, it's not worth hanging. Nobody else can know how a work of art feels to anybody else. And every piece of art has a different audience.
Memphis watercolorist Jeff Atnip. Beautiful compositions.
Anything from A. Mucha or really cool anthromorphic art.
I think drawings Aubrey Beardsley and Harry Clarke make excellent wall art
I am in a market for an Audrey Kawasaki print

or an original Gustavo Rimada painting would make my year!

I so badly want a painting by Derek Erdman.
A Tony Scherman, ideally from his Napoleon series.
Thomas Struth, from his Paradise series.
David Bierk, his Hudson River series (oil on steel). Gorgeous.
Oh, and some Sally Mann.
Oh! Yes, to a Sally Mann.
I was gonna say that I'm always looking for a cheap Joan Miro signed and numbered print at auctions and estate sales and I'm not to proud to say I've been on an obsessive search for a cheap (seeing a pattern develope yet?) C. Jere "Birds" wall sculpture, but Amahlala is right! A Dale Chihuly piece would be magnificent!
The kinetic wall sculpture of David C. Roy! It moves, it entertains, it fascinates, it relaxes. He has a website with videos here.
Wood That Works!
I walked into a gallery in Park City and the first thing I saw was a Tom Mangelson of an owl in the aspens on canvas. It was breathtaking and for just a second I was transported to the deep forest. I literally froze so I wouldn't startle the bird. I would love to have one of his close ups of either an owl or wolf on canvas for those days when I don't get outside enough.
Just found Yumiko Kayukawa today!

Mostly, I'd like someone to help me out by having a couple of photographs and one wee painting matted and framed.
I agree, it would be tricky to pick out art for me because I'm picky, but a limitless credit at a framing shop would be a great gift...
Christopher Daniels! I love his work. It's a political and a bit dark, but its all in crayon!

I am really loving bright, bold, geometric serigraphs from the 70s right now. There are a few by Pierre Clerk on ebay right now, but alas, out of my price range.
Ortelius, Münster, Mercator, Janssonius, Hondius, Bertius.
"Herb and Dorothy" DVD
leather bound sketch pad
Vitamin P book (a collection of contemporary paintings)
Vitamin D book (drawings)
A Marwencol print or book. http://www.marwencol.com/gallery/
We like the art in our house to have some meaning to us--places we've lived, home towns, artists, photographers and designers whose work we like, but especially work created by us or friends. Our goal is to have our house filled with work made by people we know.
I should have also mentioned that this includes books written and/or designed by friends.
