Dawn Bassett's Seattle design shop LiT has caught our attention: they create colorful, contemporary lamp shades out of old, ugly lamps, turning what would have otherwise ended up in the trash into something completely modern and cool. Unlike conventional shades that use plastic backing and off-gas when they heat up, LiT makes their shades with paper backing and non-toxic adhesives.
