If you're looking for something to do this weekend, let me direct you to artist Taman VanScoy who is showing locally this weekend at the Affaire in the Gardens Art Show in Beverly Hills. Taman, a Southern California native, began his creative process early while studying as a young person with the Waldorf School where the curriculum "focuses on a child being a unique individual encouraged to explore his or her own creative potential". Later deciding to pursue art full time he obtained his bachelors from Long Beach State University. His paintings of the 'road less traveled' Americana that we forgot about in the city is something that is very dear to my heart. Having grown up on a farm, I know Taman's work captures the quiet feeling of being in the middle of a field or bumping along a dirt road. I can almost smell my Dad's hay drying and the buzz of insects from his imagery. Though Taman is a local, he spends most of his time on the road searching for the next painting. It's a rare opportunity to catch him in town. He'll be showing Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th From 10am to 6pm at Beverly Gardens Park. Both prints and originals are for sale, so various price points are available.
