Loft District — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Our style is like a mix
century modern — we have some modern pieces from the 60's and 70's combined with some newer pieces from IKEA, Crate & Barrel, and CB2. We like clean modern lines and mixing different textures together.
We do not like clutter, meaning everything has to be organized and has to have a place. We also like to use our space wisely but try to maintain an openness. Neutral colors with pops of white and warm colors is what makes us feel at home.
I had to convince my wife that we would have enough storage in the 730 square foot loft with the only closet housing the stacked washer/dryer, electrical box, and water heater. There was storage under the loft but it wasn't used. The previous owner was living the bachelor lifestyle with sparse decorating which also made it difficult to picture our stuff in this space. There was also a fireplace surrounded by ugly tiling on a wall painted blood red.
We are happy with how the loft looks now, a couple more pieces of art still need to go on the wall. And our next projects are big projects — kitchen and bathroom — that will come hopefully over the next two years.
