- Inspiration for my palette:
- The blanket on the bed is a souvenir my parents bought on their honeymoon in Mexico and then passed down to me when my boyfriend and I bought our house. The wall color is one of the colors found in the pattern on the blanket. I love having the room based off of such a personal piece. The wall color also seems to change from a deep burgundy to brown as the light in the room changes.
- Colors used in my room
- Behr "English Manor" on the walls with bright white trim in semi-gloss. I brought in blacks and whites with the bedding and artwork.
- Tips for using color successfully
- I am not one to shy away from bold colors. If you do that though, make sure you balance it with light colors so it doesn't look like you're living in a cave.
- Palette
- Monochromatic Serape

Why your Ikea Chandeliers don't match is beyond me but I do like the brown and white.
None of my chandeliers match...I like it.
LOVE THIS.
What a lovely brown room! I think brown is sort of hard to do since browns can have all sorts of undertones. But all the browns here have a nice red undertone and go well together. Very rich looking.
How about a pop of orange somewhere
I love this. And I've never been a fan of brown. Your room looks fantastic.
Beautiful!
I like the mismatched chandeliers! Break rules, have some fun!
Very nice. Leave it just the way it is.
Love it! Very warm and inviting. LOVE the wood owl figure!
Matching pendants would be pompous! I like that you are sticking so much to this palette without the obligatory color pop. It's a bedroom after all and really restful without being boring.
Colors are great. Keep the mismatched lights. They fit perfectly. Things don't always have to match.
Break "rules" all you want, kinda like wearing polka dots and plaid together. Sure you're breaking the rules and some may say being "fashion forward" but if it looks like ish, it looks like ish. While I am not saying this looks like ish, for some people, especially those who like symmetry this is disturbing, and a little jarring to their eyes. IMO.
Thanks for all the comments! I can totally emphathize with people who like symmatry. Normally I am like that as well but for some reason that never crossed my mind. The lights were gifts from two different people when we bought our house. The smaller was made by a good friend who was inspired by an Anthropology light. It is actually made of cupcake wrappers adhered to a Chinese lantern!
I love this! It's so nice to see a neutral-hued palette that utilizes interesting things like the blanket, in a way that's not cookie-cutter/catalog/dull. Very interesting and cool!
The way the light filters into the room is a design element itself! I really like this room, and I echo everyone who said YES to mismatched chandeliers.
I especially appreciate that there's such a personal story behind the decor choices.
I have never seen brown done so perfectly - love it. And normally I would be all about the symmetry, but I really like the quirky, mismatched lights. Beautiful.
I think this may be my favorite color scheme of the entire contest thus far! The chocolate brown and white combination is striking, and you've done a great job balancing the colors so that the space feels cool and inviting, not dark!
I like it. Simple and special
That is totally cool. I love asymmetrical and the pendants are perfect. .
They chandeliers do not have to match. You room is beaitiful with the dark on the waqlls and white as accents. Geats my vote!!! Got my vote last week!!
