Name: Ashley
Location: Burbank, California
This apartment is really special to me and my boyfriend because it is the first place we have lived in that feels like "home". When we decorate we like to find pieces that fit our personality as well as the space we are looking to decorate. Most decor is found at yard sales, flea markets or thrift shops. We like to find things that we can transform slightly (by painting it, etc.) to make it more our own.
When we look for furniture, we like to incorporate items that are a mix of modern and retro. We mix items from more corporate places such as IKEA then we may find something on the side of the road and decide it's perfect as a dresser after a new paint job or some new drawer pulls. I like to mix and match colors and patterns a lot in my furniture and accent pieces, but I understand that there is such a thing as too much. If I had to describe our style I'd say it's relaxed, comfortable, interesting and a little bohemian.
Thanks Ashley!

OMG I am so relieved it's the person Ashley and not the furniture brand Ashley! For a moment there I thought AT was losing its edge but now I realize it's only me losing mine. LoL! Great use of color, Ashley!
A cheerful space! I most liked the sewing corner :)
I like it, but I don't think I could sleep in a room painted acid green.
Don't think it's for me, but I can appreciate it. Love the sewing table.
Love it! House tour?
Ashley, The hardware is the same in kitchen & bath? Hmmmm. I would like to see hardware in kitchen different, maybe to be period and compliment the tile???????
Ashley, great job balancing those wonderfully satuated colors! Plus your space is so nicely edited. I think it's beautiful in a really fun way.
Some things that bothered me:
-Bright blue counters with cream walls and terra cotta floor-mismatched!
-Horrid sheer curtains over cheap blinds
-Arrange the bed pillows!
Sorry, but lacks interest and character. Maybe she's only 18?
We have the same clock in our kitchen! And it's positioned the same way too, on a wall next to the sink. :)
Eliz@beth- I would disagree that it lacks character. I think she's working with what she has. Shoo!
The terracotta and bright blue is pretty classic Mexican, standard fare for a lot of California kitchens.
I think it's pretty cute.
We have similar cabinets circa 1950's. I'm painting them and looking for new hardware, I like the bold pulls you put on them where can I find them? Thanks!
MrsJennings-
They are from IKEA, but they are from a long while ago. We have actually been thinking about replacing them so they are not the same as the hardware in the bathroom. Thanks for looking!
I disagree with some of these comments. After browsing apartment therapy for the last oh, two hours...I like the vibe of this apartment the best. It has TONS more character then some of the other stuffy (can't walk around with your shoes on) type of homes I've seen. It's really down to earth. Anyway, Ashley...I was wondering where you got the double stacked, black, shelf unit that is under the window in your living room? I have the same style wall & would love to incorporate something like that.
