I got my sunburst mirror from Dollar General for 10 bucks. No kidding, I couldn't believe it and it looks good, not cheap looking. I think Target also has some nice prices ones
Just search sunburst mirror on their website.
Hmm... When you said "affordable" I hoping for at least one mirror under $100. Sorry AT but I think you failed at this assignment.
How about some of these great (and WAY more affordable) options from Target? They look great in person- not cheap looking at all.
$69.99 Crate and Barrel look-alike:

I love the Ethan Allen one. It would look great in my foyer, but seems a bit on the higher end of what I would like to spend for a piece.
Seriously, they need to rethink the concept of "affordable" on this site...
Check out this one I found at Olejo Stores for $169, it has a clean look and modern style
http://www.olejostores.com/kenroy_home_cameron_silver_wall_mirror-12722.aspx
Hobby Lobby has one which looks less garish in person.
http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/starburst-wall-mirror-750463/
And Ballard has more of the Suzanne Kasler mirrors:

Here is one for $33 - available online:

I meant to add that everything that I posted above was less than $150 and the hobby lobby one is $50. Just search for "sunburst mirror" or "starburst mirror" and you'll be able to find tons of products within your price range.
Um, how did you know I've been looking to buy one this week. Get out of my mind!
Gee, Annie, what took you so long?!? ;)
(and PS: These ARE affordable for the category.)
I'm sorry, Patrick, but category or not ... mirrors that are $678 or $759 are a reach for "affordable." This is not to say that they're badly priced - they could very well be worth that amount of money. However, I can't drop seven- or eight-hundred dollars on a wall mirror and still make it to the grocery store that month or reckon some of my bills ... and that's how I define affordable.
That's only one way to define it, though. And the HUGE ApartmentTherapy audience has, I imagine, many other ways to define it.
Look at the source lists in ELLE Decor or many of the Design Centers, and see what similar prices are. This will snap right into perspective.
i agree with the "affordable is not a $200 (or more) mirror". especially when you guys posted this diy tutorial just last week:
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/projects/diy-project-michelles-super-sized-sunburst-mirror-138633
i mean, sure, you could go online and buy that Home Decorator's version for $319 +$50 shipping (!!!) or you could make the same exact thing for maybe $30 in materials and very little artistic skill.
do you guys need a CAC (Cheap Ass Contributor)??? i am totally available and promise to never associate a $300 mirror with the term "affordable."
p.s. the post was a nice inspiration gallery if nothing else.
There are also a couple available from hsn:
$50 http://home-decor.hsn.com/ashton-sutton-gold-sunburst-mirror_p-6260129_xp.aspx
$46 http://home-decor.hsn.com/ashton-sutton-starburst-mirror_p-6259527_xp.aspx
Not everyone wants to DIY.
Beautiful mirrors, but... all of these are considered affordable? I'm sure some people can afford a $500 and up mirror, but not the vast majority of us.
To be honest, I think anything over $100 would be a stretch for many of us.
Thanks to the commenters for filling in the gaps :) I really like the Target ones.
It's a nice selection, and there are definitely less expensive options available if you can find them. I bought mine (which looks like if mirror #3 and #6 had a baby!) for $32 at HomeGoods. It's made of solid wood painted in silver-gold, and looks amazing.
@patrick. you are absolutely correct about diy. which is why i found it surprising that especially that last mirror you put up, the $319 one, is an exact carbon copy (although larger) of the $25 Target version that evakatharina posted. It would likely cost that much to diy it, hell of a deal.
The "HUGE ApartmentTherapy audience" seems to have spoken, and corrected you on your "perspective."
I bought a really, really nice one at home sense for about $40. It's painted wood and great quality. Love it above my bed! so if you're looking for one, just wait till you find a deal, they're out there.
Perhaps have a broader price range for this type of post? As in less than $100, $100-300, etc...?
@patrick - that's why I clarified in my post that my post was MY definitely of affordable and why I said a "reach" instead of mere "NO! Not affordable!"
I merely believe that category is only loosely related to affordablism (yep - I made that word up!), and that there's a broad spectrum of opinion on that. I was simply explaining why these options couldn't be affordable for me personally - not imposing that on any one else.
When it comes to DIY - I agree with you. I'm a big fan of projects and trying to make things my own, but I don't want to DIY EVERY project (especially not this, honestly!)
Just clarifying =)
!! Typo - sorry! my post was MY **definition** of affordable.

I did not put up any mirror, and I have boycotted Target since last Summer for their anti-gay political donations.
And by the way, the commenters do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the audience, at large.

Understood!
I agree that the less than $200 would fall under "affordable"! Two good options at Wisteria (love this site!) too -- one at $79 and one at $119. They also have a few option in the $300 range.

Mmm not spending $150 on a starburst mirror. I also suck at DIY projects so that's out of the picture as well.
There are other mirrors on Ballard Designs that are much more reasonable, including the ones that a poster pointed out above.
I got mine from lowes for $10 (clearance) and got a metallic gold spray paint $6 and i'm done :)
I bought mine for $58 from Chiasso.com. I'm pleased with it, it's slightly different from other things I've seen. It's got an airy feel to it that I really like.

I love that there is a starburst mirror line-up to browse. I'm with the "that isn't even near low enough for my budget" crowd, but I get that there are mirrors for every budget.
The timing couldn't be better, though. I just blogged today about the one I found at Target that I'm excited about potentially buying. So for those of you with <$50 budgets (like me), you might like this one, too. Just don't buy the last one! I want it! :)

No matter how you define "affordable," it's great that so many people posted links!
I love starburst mirrors - I have one similar to the Worlds Away Goya one above the fireplace in my sitting room.
LOL. Growing up, we had one hanging at the entrance of our house(s) similar to #8. It was a gift from a military dictator.
How about a follow-up post with starburst mirrors priced under $100 based on the suggestions above? Show pictures, and maybe compare the expensive ones to the less-expensive look-alikes?
I like the "negative posts" that provide useful information on how to get something nice for less. Thank you, fellow AT fans.
Andrea @ Behind Closed Drawes :: Winner!! Picked one up on the way home from work.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!
Just got this one at Ten Thousand Villages (and love it), half price, so they're probably discontinuing them:
http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/sunburst-gold-mirror
i agree, definitely not affordable.
tenthousandvillages.com has a couple {i think} nice ones, $50-$150.
Horchow? Affordable? Really?
First, I want them all! (I'd collect them if I had enough money and walls!)
Second, I got my best one second hand for about $65. It's huge, and I thought THAT was expensive, especially for used. But I still lvoe it and am glad I got it.
Third -- @patrick (the other one) -- Target is anti-gay??? Say it isn't so! It's the only place in town for a couple of things I use regularly! Damn!
Good lord I cannot stand these. Every time I see one it reminds me of something found in the Ross/Marshalls/T.J. max home decor section in the back of the store.
Now please do a post on starburst clocks!!
@Patrick, this might be of interest to you:

also... re the very last one Home Decorators "Collection Sunburst Antiqued Gold Wall Mirror $319", Target has the very same on their website. If compare the highest-res of the one from Target vs. that other website they are the exact same image, with the exception that the mirrored part of Target's is a smooth gradient. anyway, i actually looked for it at Target and the finish is nothing like what's pictured on the site. Still, $25 plus some metallic paint and you could probably get it looking pretty close.
Love the look! Target has a new item that looks good online, and it's only $25! http://www.target.com/dp/B004A9JKAS/ref=sc_iw_r_1_0_1038616
I may have to scope this out at my local store...

Thanks for the link. I follow the boycott pretty rigorously, so I had seen that.
Yes, that announcement is a small step, but it is issued without promise or apology, and without financial retribution to the damage done when they started making political donations to extremely anti-Gay candidates.
Patrick,
Good point. All the steps seem too small over all. I was watching a bit about DOMA recently where talking heads were saying that it's become so "unfavourable" to discriminate against lgbt, which of course sounds absurd (as in Honeysuckle will be unfavourable next year when next year's colour is revealed??)... so if that is the case, and it is now un-trendy to do the aforementioned, then great. Progress is progress. And unlike Honeysuckle, this isn't a trend that people will get bored of or renege on. At least I hope...
