Astronomy 101: Simple DIY Wall Constellations

Star gazing is a perfectly traditional childhood activity, the nighttime version of watching the clouds roll by. Whether your kids are interested in the actual constellations or are simply fascinated by outer space, this minimalist, clean wall design is simple to construct and beautiful for a wall or ceiling.

Claire from South by North created these wall constellations for A Subtle Revelry, using only thread and various stickers. As Claire points out, you can find lots of diagrams of real constellations online, or you can create your own. Make them as big or small as you want, and if you're really going all out, use some glow in the dark stickers, too.

Now, I challenge someone to make the Crab Nebula.
