Here's another post from Ana, who's vying for a spot on the Southwest team, focusing on Austin. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
In the South, where hanging out on the porch talking and drinking is a time-honored tradition, comfort is key. And there's nothing more relaxing a rocking chair. Vintage patio furniture has been gaining in popularity in recent years -- and with good reason. Certain designs, like the bouncer, have become classics, and they'll last for decades. A little spray paint will give new life to old metal chairs and tables. And they look equally fine when they have a little rust and show their years.
So if you'd like to rock the night away, you can go with an iron chair, which often feature ornate designs...
Aluminum rockers are great if you want something light and portable.
In Austin, Uptown Modern has a large selection (including all of those pictured), but you can get lucky on Craigslist or some of the thrift shops Kristin covered last week.

The yellow ones are fantastic!
I want those aluminum rockers! How much are they? I love all the chairs.
Giving these vintage pieces a new look must be contagious in Austin (They are everywhere, aren't they?). In fact, I just spray painted some vintage metal chairs this weekend. These aqua blue gems with new vinyl fabric pillows now live on my front entry. Thanks for posting! I'm so excited about these Austin posts!
I am loving the Austin posts as well. The pictured rocker is a find; I've never seen anything like it.
Sardy: If memory serves, the aluminum ones are $75 (but I was taking pictures in the heat, so I'm not entirely sure). Most of the patio furniture at Uptown Modern is reasonably priced (comparable to Craigslist/thrift stores in many cases). Another place that has a lot of patio chairs is Out of the Past on Burnet Rd., just a few blocks away.

Ooo I love rockers!
This is a fun post and does a great job of illustrating regional style. I hope they continue adding more cities and bringing more diverse local flair to AT!
