Name: Gregory, Emily and their cats Eero and Eames

Home now: Silver Lake, 639 sq. ft.
Today is the second in a series of updates/sneak peaks of those featured in our newest book: Apartment Therapy Presents: Real Homes, Real People, Hundreds of Design Solutions
.
The book showcases 40 homes of AT readers including interviews, photos and resources. There's also some great commentary by Maxwell!

Gregory and Emily are the second on our list. They continue to live in their Silver Lake studio, with some minor changes in decor and furnishings, but have mostly just settled into a comfortable relationship with their apartment.
"Come August, we'll have lived here for four years," says Emily. "We spent the first year or two taking our time to decorate our space, slowly adding (and subtracting) pieces that we thought we needed."
Gregory says, "The three biggest changes we've made are actually the most recent. We added a large stereo cabinet (refinished for the January Jumpstart), so we had to move our chaise back to its original L-configuration. This configuration also complimented the other major addition: a home theater projection system."
Emily chimes in, "Although we do generally do believe that 'small is cool', we're really enjoying the large screen experience with friends for movie nights. I was initially hesitant about having such a large home theater system, until I saw how Gregory was able to install the components in a way that didn't intrude upon the rest of the room."

Other minor changes include new bedding, a hand shower, and newly acquired artwork from friends. Their current house projects are to find a few decorative pillows for their living room seating, de-clutter their closet, and refresh the bedroom with new handmade curtains.

I love your apartment. Totally.
First, Daniel Craig is totally hot.
Second, where did you get the case study coffee table, as shown in the first pic?
One of the best apartments ever featured here on AT. So much of this place just looks 'happy' to me.
i can't get enough of that stereo cabinet. wanna re-do another one and ship it to chicago? :)
Another happy CA apartment!
Kudos on that stereo cabinet again.
I second the request for info on the coffee table. And the other section of the sofa.
Love the colors and baseboards.
Can anyone identify the wall paint color in the bedroom?
mh330: we had to go back to our own post to dig up the paint colour, but we found it: Behr Valley Mist (460E). It looks dark on the computer screen, but it dried more soothing.
That being said, if we were to paint it all over again, we'd have it colour matched with Benjamin Moore, which we used for our yellow living room. The consistency wasn't even close and the B. Moore needed half the application.
oh, man. hope you guys don't compete for Smallest Coolest. If you did, I'd have even MORE of a losing chance! Your place rocks!
Love everything about this place from the colors to the furniture - just makes me happy! What color blue did you use in the bedroom & kitchen???
david and art: the coffee table and sectional is from Modernica.
*heather leaf*: thanks for the kind words. (Un)fortunately, as an editor, I can't enter our place into the contest :D
Ta: I'll see if I can hunt down that paint name/number over the weekend.
One of my favorite homes I've seen on AT. I LOVE it.
love the casestudy sectional - does anyone know how it compares to the bludot bonnie and clyde sectional as far as comfort, durability and overall look
The place looks great. I'm curious why the TV is needed if you've got a projector. You could eliminate the TV and create even more space.
"i can't get enough of that stereo cabinet. wanna re-do another one and ship it to chicago? :) "
ditto!! to dallas plz.
VLADCOLE: Our apartment has too many windows to use the projector with acceptable contrast levels; the ambient light is highly noticeable even with light blocking shades. We use the projector for movies, DVD shows and Apple TV at night, which is probably better anyhow, since it conserves the projector's pricey bulb. We wouldn't be saving really that much space eliminating a flat panel TV anyhow.
selena and bluetoes: thanks for the kind words. I especially love that stereo cabinet because it was picked off the curb and found a new life here. And if I can refinish one while living in a small apartment, I think anyone can (just do it during the dry season, as I painfully learned during the process).
Sounds like these type of stereo cabinets are quite common at Goodwill, thrift shops and yard sales, so keep your eyes out!
This apartment is fantastic and an inspiration! I love how clean and spare it is without being cold. And i want a massive theatre system now...congratulations from one silverlaker to another. maria
Oh man. I love their apartment more every time I see it. And especially now that there's Daniel Craig in it!
Love the look of the case study sectional (especially the chaise part). Been looking around all morning for it, and can't seem to find it. Looked on modernica and although they have the corner piece, they don't have the coffee table or the chaise. Perhaps it was discontinued? Anyone know where I might be able to find one?
What in the world is she doing back there in the kitchen? It looks like you caught her in the middle of reenacting a dance routine from a bollywood movie!
The platform bed looks really cool and simple. Anybody know how to make it? Oh and I like the little bit of bollywood :).
The best thing in this apartment, by far? You, doing a dance in the kitchen! Thanks for making me smile!
