This is from our Boston finalists, Kayla and Wes. Comment away!

We know that AT readers have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Vessel's Candela, but we thought we'd clear the air a little and talk about why Vessel (whose little lights are now guaranteed by OXO) is one of our favorite Boston design shops...

Situated on a small back street near South Station and the new entrance park to Chinatown, Vessel straddles the line of high design and homey. The stark-white interior is warmed by translucent walls of old shipping pallets, one of which hides the working studio in the back. It's a playful collection of beautiful and practical objects and furniture with a dedicated children's and garden area. They have recently become an official "Dot Spot," one of the only places outside New York you can actually see (and sit on) Blu Dot designs.

This tends to be the trend at Vessel – designs from companies like Droog which you may be familiar with from the web but are unlikely to have seen in person. Vessel's own designs really stand out for us. We bought the Squat Module and currently use it as a coffee table but in our new apartment we'll use it as a bench with the Flop cushion on top. We also use the ceramic flask and cups for everything from champagne to soup to espresso. If you visit during the week the studio dog, Lucy, will be wandering around the store and you can personally chat with the Vessel folks. And if you're a designer ask them for a discount (20% on Vessel products).

What better time to visit than next Friday, April 10 from 6-9pm as Vessel welcomes Blu Dot founders to unveil the latest and greatest Blu Dot designs. We'll be there! >> Vessel

Awesome post but...you can sit on and see a lot of Blu Dot at Urban Living Studio (58 Clarendon Street, Boston MA 02116 www.urbanlivingstudio.com)
I went to vessel and bought blu dot chairs and shelves after reading the post for the first time! People working there are so friendly (and hot! haha)
They just opened another Vessel store on Tremont St, across the street from Tremont 647. I haven't been in yet, but plan on it asap ! Just a heads up to any South Enders who don't want to make the trek over to South Station !
Vessel also has a 2nd store in the South End at 652 Tremont St., where Motley Home used to be. It's a slightly smaller store, but has most of the same products as the Kingston St store.
Keyse, I can never remember the new name of Fresh Eggs! Urban Living Studio--how is that an improvement?!!
Great pictures... unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Boston!
Wow- that looks like a great resource for those of you in Boston. Another outstanding post Kayla and Wes- hope you get a chance to keep up the good work!
I'm really digging on the pallet idea...
Your post is in keeping with what A.T. is all about. I don't live anywhere near Boston, but your post peaked my interest anyway. Keep up the good work.
what does "Vessel (whose little lights are now guaranteed by OXO)" mean? how does oxo guarantee them?
Finally! A useful AT:Boston post!
This one post is head and shoulders above all the other AT:Boston posts so far, I think. What we Boston people need most that the NY blog can't give us are local shopping opportunities. I'll probably stick to AT:New York for house tours (the Boston ones are booooooring so far).
Also, this post mentions April 10 like it's in the future; did it get queued up funny?
Hi this is Wes-
Yes, the Candela is now produced and guaranteed by OXO which means they are now both cheaper and should have the quality issues worked out.
We wrote and submitted the article around April 1 and it was just posted. We tried to let people know about the party but we don't post the articles. Sorry you missed it, we had a good time.
