AndBeige sits quietly on Florida Avenue in NW. The space is painted
ivory with a dusty chocolate brown ceiling, a neutral background to display high fashion pieces. The feeling is warm, stylish and worldly. It is on my list of stores where I would love to live. Walking through the store, I feel as if I am actually walking in the homes featured in Elle Decor magazine...
The displays are appealing without feeling cluttered. One may think beige equals boring. AndBeige says calm not boring. While the prices are higher than your big-box stores, the pieces are far from big-box or cookie cutter. There are layers of pattern, textures and design. Also, you can customize most pieces using the assortment of fabrics along the back wall or bring your own fabrics.
If you are not in the market for a piece of furniture, AndBeige is a great resource for accessories, bedding and books. Many of the accessories are inexpensive.

Fire orange side chair: This great side chair can stand alone in a room. It commands attention!

Tree Stump: I have been eyeing this for some time. I think this would work great next to your bed with three tea-light candles. It is a great piece that can add a rustic feel to your home.

Green bowls: These little green bowls are handsome. One could sit nicely on a bookshelf or two would look great on a window sill behind white cotton curtains.

Another place in my zip code that I was unaware of. It makes me think these stores are not effectively marketing. My husband and I just redecorated our entire home, and I would have spent some of that money in more of my local shops if I knew about them. Thanks for featuring this.
My two cents:
AndBeige is such a good name for this place. I went to the store, which is in my hood, not long after it opened. It was not to my liking at all, although I'll give it a look again. I found it boring and, well, too beige! Stodgy in a DC/old-school Georgetown kind of way. I didn't see one thing I liked (not one!) and I recall it being overpriced and rather fussy. My wish is that AT-DC covers much more edgy stuff than this.
would like two of those wood chandeliers please.

That orange chair is anything but beige - which is why I love it!
(BTW - the sofa has nailhead detailing - not "Metal Tabs"
So appropriate for DC. DC realtors are notorious for insisting that it's only beige walls that sell apartments... So white, er, beige bread.
Placing the stump next to a bed is a neat idea. But is a tree stump worth $235? That kind of thing should be free... from a neighbor's/friend's/etc. yard.
I've been shopping for a couch for some time. I like the one pictured, and the well-written descriptions help me visualize how to use the items in the shop. Giving the prices helps, too.
I disagree with Joan, I think the tree stump is one of my favorite items on this page.
Joan, if you would be willing to cut and level the tops, and bottoms of the stumps in your yard, dry out the wood, cure the wood, then get all the critters out and then carve the edges smooth I will come pick up the finished product from your home.

I say cheers for the tree stump piece as well! Love it- natural elements are being featured more and more in design- kudos to Thomas for picking up on that trend.

CS54 - To each his own, obviously, but I do think $235 is a lot, even for that amount of work, which I was aware of. I would definitely use one in my house, but not for that amount of money.
Let me know when you're coming, and I'll have one ready. (Give me time for drying and curing, obviously.)

I'll be coming by to pick up the stump next week. I don't really wanna pay $235 either, but it is still a cool looking stump. I wonder if the guy who decided to open up the stump business got his idea from the pet rock guy. If that is the case my stump better come with a manual for best use case scenarios.

Love the look of this place. Those oversize portraits behind the couch are so DC but a little edgy at the same time, no?
I like the brief descriptions and prices as well.
i liked reading this store review as i am visiting d.c. in the coming month...however, the writing did not sound like the voice of AT. maybe i'm being picky, it just really stood out.
Glad to see another Adams Morgan business featured! I've also found the shop pleasant, that couch super-soft and I'm especially happy to have some more upscale retail in the neighborhood. I wouldn't go so far as to call the shop Georgetown-staid. No... it's traditional reinterpreted. I especially thought the Victorian-inspired accessories were interesting. That said, I was looking for more modern pieces myself when I visited a few months ago.

Could you elaborate on what the voice of AT is? What exactly do you mean?
It would seem to me that if they wanted to keep a perfectly united voice then they would have one writer. Also they would probably not allow comments. You may be right that it is not the same old thing. Some could take that as a negative or a positive. I personally did not think the article was of poor quality. Did you?

This store is interesting but looks expensive, but thats DC for ya. Also make sure that you proofread a little better, some typos and grammar problems here and there.
