Is it hard to part with favorite t-shirts? We're attached to our worn-out Pink Floyd Shirt from the 1995 tour and have been resisting cutting it up for rags (our usual practice for non-donatable clothing). So we're intrigued by the Washington Post's suggestion to turn old t-shirts into quilts. Uncommon Goods offers a Memory Quilt Kit for just that purpose. What do you think about this idea? More t-shirt quilt photos below the jump...

Would you love snuggling up to Bono, even in t-shirt form? Or does the thought of old t-s and baby clothes on your bed turn you off?

A T-shirt quilt could be cute with the right shirts, but these examples are all kinds of ugly.
Totally fugly. Keep the memories, ditch the crap. Take a few digital photos if you really can't bear to part with them.
I made one for my husband and one for my sister and am saving shirts for my two boys. It means a lot to the person it belongs to (maybe not a blanket that sits out when company is over, but great for a nap) and it's a good way not to have a bunch of unwearable t-shirts that my hubby won't get rid of.
I had a housemate whose mom made her a quilt of her old high school t-shirts; it was so soft and snuggly everyone in the house used it in the winter when tucked into the couch in the living room. I wouldn't put one on my bed, but I do think it is a fun and functional way to showcase certain memories.
I love quilts. I love my old T-shirts. ...What a great idea!
My Fiance has over 50 Rolling Stones -tshirts. I don't want to see them as home decor...and I think if I suggested cutting them up, he'd take my ring back! LOL
My Mom made a quilt in the 70's with all of our family's old clothes. It's a cherished possession.
Here is a link to instructions on how you can make one yourself. I have made several t-shirt quilts over the years.

I have one that I love in the winter. I took all my old college shirts with great memories and commissioned one off of eBay. I still have a few tshirts that I wear from time to time, but it's made me get a better wardrobe because I effectively got rid of the 'easy' clothes, too.
Those quilt are so cute, and a nice job well-finished. We just custom made t-shirts only, bulk order quantity, : ).
