Lovely to see you all last night. As always, we started the evening at 6pm with just a few folks strolling through the door, but by 8pm Gus Modern was totally filled and we ended up kicking out a straggling crowd of about 20 at 9:30. It is great to meet people in person and trade in our online personalities for our offline real selves every now and then... (Pic: MidC Frank, P2, Jill Slater, Alex Bandon from This Old House, Josh Rabinowitz from Skateboarddirectory.com and Joshr.com)
Last night's crowd was a mix of readers, designers, bloggers and friends, which created a great vibe as there was plenty to talk about and lots of networking to be done. Our next meetup is May 17th (Small Cool Party) and 18th (Design Blogfest for ICFF) and we hope to swell the crowd even more. There's nothing more fun in NYC than growing community.
Thanks again to Dan and Michael from Gus Modern for hosting us, and to Jeff Hock for the great wine.

thanks for hosting, maxwell.... it was nice to finally meet you.
Thanks for a lovely evening ... and the chance to finally put some faces to the names!
You're more than welcome! My only regret is that we didn't take pictures. No one will believe that we had nearly 100 folks come through over the course of the evening. It was a great turnout for our most casual of events.
As always, good company and great conversation!
Well I don't regret missing the crowd since there were still only a small number when I left. Nice to meet Jane and see Mid-C Frank again. Also good to see Sara Kate and finally meet the lovely Ursula.
P(too) I missed you though, must you always be fashionably late?
Ursula was there!?! Why didn't I come to NY???
I love GusModern stuff... wish I could have been there, but I'm in Chicago. Especially bummed I didn't to see in person the handsome chap in the brown suede jacket pictured here. He's VERY cute! :-)
jimkk--
Continental airlines was the reason I was fashionably late for this one! Sorry I missed you.
Thanks to Dan at *Gus for hosting, and welcome to New York!
ps: Nice to meet Jane and Alex!
Sorry I missed you, SaraKate.
More pictures. See, I always imagined P2 looking like Rain Wilson from THE OFFICE. (Just from his comments.) I was wrong. He doesn't look anything like Rain Wilson. P2 looks very hip. Very today. Very right now.
And Mid-Century Frank looked exactly like I thought he would - tall, lanky and slightly stand-off-ish.
Has anyone read/seen the book:
Dictator style : lifestyles of the world's most colorful despots / Peter York ; foreword by Douglas Coupland?
We received it at work last week and I immediately checked it out. It's got great photos but is the text just juvenile (bordering on condescending)?
