Amsterdam design pilgrims stop first at The Frozen Fountain, a reference since 1985 that sells contemporary furniture, lighting, fabrics and home accessories, with international design names and a strong emphasis on local talent.
The Frozen Fountain is a spacious, airy 6,500-square-foot space located along the lovely Prinsengracht canal, with a relaxed atmosphere, a permanent furniture collection and rotating exhibitions including commissioned work from young and established artists and designers...
Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek’s custom-designed, multi-colored furniture made from scrap timber, recycled aluminum, old doors and window units has an appealing handmade quality.
A one-of-a-kind Claudy Jongstra felt wall hanging looks like a long-haired bison hide.
A barstool made from a bicycle seat brings the Amsterdam bike aesthetic indoors.
Young Dutch photographer Jaap Scheeren’s “Exploding Trees” photograph hangs above a forest-green sectional (top pic).

Thanks, great tip. I knew of the existence of the store but never visited. I know they sell the 'block lamp' which I really, really like.
But they need to update the website... this looks terrible
I need that green sofa. Any idea on the maker?
Snot, I think it's the Alfa sofa made by Zanotta.
~$10,000 for the sectional.
If you like that design, you might want to check out Gus Modern's Carter sofa. Similar lines and tufted look at a much cheaper price.
I visited this shop last summer and found myself wishing there were more affordable pieces in the mix. It was an incredible mix of beautiful products but hardly a single piece under $250 or so. Except for a large collection of space pens ;)
For the more wacky designs, also go visit 'KIS' near Dam Square, where lots of prototypes and one-offs are shown. http://www.house-of-design.nl/kis/
