The dark taupe paint that Géraldine used as an accent on a single wall in her attic apartment in the 19th arrondissement gives the small room surprising depth.
The earthly color works nicely with the original wooden ceiling and wall beams and makes the white walls and bookcase look crisp. The color helps bring the eye down from the high slanted windows, making the space feel grounded and warm while sitting in the living room. For a full tour of Géraldine's flat, go here.

Gosh I hate the new slideshow format... I couldn't bear scrolling up and down on every slide and just bailed after a few images... And the ad is big and annoying. This page is in need of a redesign already.....
I can't even access the new slideshows!! Just get an ad and a blank page:(
Seriously, why is the navigation panel at the top of the slideshows SO HUUUGE now? Couldn't the ad be off to the side, and the navigation just be simple and discreet? It's a PITA to have to scroll down to view every single photo. Also, for what its worth, I prefer the dark gray background over the white for viewing photos.
I can't access the slideshows either. it just stays on the first picture without moving on. :(
I don't like the new way either!
Please give us back the old version of the slide show already. The very old one, with small discreet adverts.Please.
I agree. The new slideshow format is annoying, and the slideshows are the main reason I come to AT. Plus, for some reason, it's taking all those long pictures forever to load, and I've got DSL. Brought back the frustration of dial-up all over again.
Wonderful apartment! Love the mix of modern and antiques, very well done. Also, super sweet kitty...
I have had the same experience with painting one wall in a (only slightly) darker color, whereâto my surpriseâit made the corridor-like space feel deeper, and less like a corridor!
Ditto on the slide show. I can't access it either, and the banner is too large. Scrolling up and down to look at every image is annoying.
The slide show has not worked for me since they changed it. The old version was so much better (cause it worked).
Looks very nice, I think you are the only person I've encountered that has turned lack shelves sideways and stacked them! I think I went up to 4 high one time and it looked very chunky and modern/minimal. They have since become a fierce fish tank stand haha... but they are a design staple to me.
