Your pet's name?: Hazel
When did Hazel come into your life?: My mom gave me Hazel for my 30th birthday in the summer of 2009. She happened to be born on the day I had to put my cat Coco down. She also happened to be Coco's granddaughter. It was fate, and Hazel's arrival helped relieve the devastation I had felt having to say goodbye to Coco.
Where would we most likely find your pet in your home?: Because Hazel is an Abyssinian, she's a lot less aloof than most cats. So when I'm home, she's normally following me around like a puppy. She likes to drink water out of the faucet, she likes to jump from my desk and perch on top of the door, she likes to curl up on her designated sheepskin and she likes to watch the birds from the window. But mainly she is underfoot.
Pet specific features of the home: Any soft, cozy chair is home for Hazel. I vacuum often but can't keep up with her specific spots so now she has a sheepskin that's all hers that's in the rocking chair; she has all kinds of toys that live strewn about the apartment and I try to leave windows open for her to lie in whenever possible.
What do you love most about living with your pet?: Hazel is a companion and has such a crazy and rambunctious personality that I can't imagine how boring life would be without her. She greets me when I come home, curls up with me in bed, sits in my lap when I'm working on the computer. She also charms anyone meeting her for the first time, so she's great at parties You can find lots of pics of her on my Instagram @ljoliet and her hashtag #hazelcat.
