Thomas Britt has more than 40 years of interior design experience. He has fashioned the interiors of houses, apartments and residences worldwide and most recently volunteered to design a vignette for Housing Works' Design-on-a-Dime Benefit.

He agreed to answer some questions for us about his vignette for the event...

When did you first become interested in design and what drew you to a career in design? I have loved furniture and design since I was a childand was drawn to design as a career because of the unknown, the surprise each project brings.

How would you describe your vignette? Fresh & Bold.

How did you put together the vignette? All the pieces came from my own warehouse--the best piece is a large plaster mirror painted by Troy Hixon who painted the backdrop and floor of the vignette.

What is your advice for people 'designing-on-a-dime'? Scale, Sharp, Simple.
