Since 1981, Washingtonians looking to restore old rowhouses or pre-war apartments have turned to The Brass Knob for vintage doorknobs, switchplates, and other pieces of architectural salvage to make their homes complete. Some choose to buy rather than deal with the hassle of restoring their existing fixtures, but many are trying to replace elements removed by previous owners during remodeling projects...

We love to browse at The Brass Knob, and find the stacks of vintage fixtures rather soothing. The love of all things mid-century and modern hurt business in the past few years, but the store recently established an online presence to market their goods to a wider audience- apparently customers in NY are snapping up light fixtures and decorative metalwork.

Read the whole article The Past, Polished, and drop into the store in Adams Morgan to see for yourself.
