This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that first?!" I kick myself first and then run right home and try it out.
"Wherever they turn books into lamps they will also, in the end, turn human beings into lamps."
I never like this idea of cutting up(or in some way destroying) books to make some other object ... be it lamps in this case, or shelves, iPod holders, etc.
In this instance I like it even less when the wall mounted version is going for €300 - I know one pays for design, craftsmanship, etc., etc., but really here it seems to be a book with a hole cut in it, a light fitting, and some method of marrying the two.
the first one reminds me of a rolodex
Ooh, I love the sconce and the pendant with curvy pages. I love things made of books, because I think books are inherently beautiful, but the sad fact is the contents of many of them just suck. If anyone comes up with a non-fire-hazard way to diy this, please share with the class!
