hejranyc-this is almost entirely solid oak planks (except for the back panel and drawer bottoms) and not that expensive for solid wood that will last forever!

I think the only people that wouldn't be impressed with the Atlantico pieces are the people who haven't seen them in person. They are absolutely head and shoulders above anything else at their price point. My favorite finish is the white oiled oak which actually is more soft pale gray than white. Super beautiful.

I bought this very same dresser from Atlantico by De la Espada in white oak a year ago for $1995 ($500 less) before the strong Euro pushed the prices up. I can attest the material and workmanship are absolutely superb.

So, hejiranyc, please DO share your sources for all the stuff out there so much better for so much less.

Yes, I would really be interested to hear some resources for the better stuff for less! I'm trying to furnish my first "grown up" apartment on a serious budget. All my old funny, quirky, not-exactly-fully-functional secondhand furniture suddenly won't fly in this place. One thing I really want/need is a dresser that's big enough, with drawers that open and close smoothly. I like this one because it is beautifully simple without being "aggressively modern." I'm a beginner at home furnishing, though, and still developing my tastes. Any advice appreciated!

Baronet (a manufacturer) is pretty decent for bedroom dresser-type stuff. Not cheapest in the world, but perhaps more affordable. Carried at Jensen & Lewis, C&B and BoConcept, among others.

And I'm in the West Elm fan club, so don't rule them out. Their acorn finish is really nice and flexible with being aggressively modern.

Yes - this is lovely - but I've read online that lead times are 11 - 13 weeks. Now - I think and find 6 weeks to be EXTRAVAGENT to expect to wait for a piece of furniture - so tripling that is like - what? Do they have hamsters biting the wood to make the drawers? Buy more hamsters for X sake.

But seriously - I love this dresser - can't wait 13 weeks for it - so how does the Room and Board Linear dresser compare?
