Name: Atticus (5 months)
Location: Corvallis, OR
Division: Single Room
Room Size: 25 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: We have found that proper storage + organization is key to living in a small space... kids or no kids. If something doesn't have a place it can drive you mad, especially in a small home.
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: Fitting everything a baby might need into 25 square feet of space (whose former life was a closet) was a daunting task. We chose a pale gray for the walls and bought the larger pieces of furniture in white to help make it feel as light and airy as possible. We made sure to fill the space with colorful art + objects that are entertaining for Atticus to look and they also keep all the gray and white from feeling to austere.
Favorite Thing About This Room: We love looking at all of Atti's books, toys, and art. It reminds us that the best objects are functional and beautiful.
Thanks for your entry Kristina and good luck!

Darling! I love the jar w/ the wooden blocks. I may have to steal that idea.
the whole space is great, i LOVE the curtains!!
Yes! Where are the curtains from?
This is probably one of the most beautiful entries I've seen!
I would love to know where the curtains are from because currently I have that exact fabric sitting in a pile waiting to be sewn into curtains!
I got my fabric from www.babybedding.com ... it was $10 a yard
I'd like to know where the curtains are from and they "crying is for babies" print.
Darling!!!!!!
A lovely and safe space from which to be newly centered in the world, well done.
I loved this one before I noticed it was from my hometown. Go Corvallis!!!
Beautiful room. It's modern, but welcoming. The color choice was perfect for a small space, very airy.
I have pretty much identical curtains and I got them on etsy.

This is very sweet!
I love the artwork you have chosen-- and yes, particularly the "crying" print! Great room!
i love everything... the curtains, the mobile, the framed prints... just fabulous! modern but with a soft whimsy!
love your style... great use of space, color and texture. and the orange and yellow printed elephant is awesome!
Love the artwork, color, everything. Really great space!
I LOVE this little room! What paint color did you use on the walls? As for the curtains I love them...I have the ash/white fabric that I turned into drapes for my family room.
Wow, wow, wow! I stumbled across this page and created an account so I could comment.
This is one of the most creative uses for a small space that I've ever seen and I'm absolutely in love with it!
Another request for a curtain source! And if anyone has a fabric source for red/white chevron stripes that works too!
A nook this stylish makes me want to see your whole house, as I am sure it is equally stunning. So many thoughtful touches in this room (and I echo the love of that elephant and crying print!)
I LOVE this! I think it is my favorite entry in the contest thus far... And I'm entered in it! Haha : ) Love the curtains, love the artwork, love the blocks in the jar. The whole space is just great, good work mama! And as a side note, I also love the name Atticus.
Lovely! The curtains are great, as are the artworks and toys on the shelves.
I've found similar chevron prints at Fabric.com. Just search for Chevron and you'll get tons of options. And search online for a coupon code and you'll get some good discounts.
Thank you all so much for your kind words about Atti's little room! It really warms my heart!
The curtains were made by a family member with Premier Prints ZigZag Village fabric in the blue/natural.
The artwork was all found on Etsy. The crying print is from Sycamore Street Press and can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/people/sycamorestreetpress
The paint color is Behr's Light French Gray.
Love it! Where is the light fixture from?
Love. My favorite entry so far! Can you tell me where you got the changing pad on top of the shelf/dresser on the left? We have a similar shelving unit from IKEA, and I can't find a pad that fits the 15" depth!
Thanks!
The light fixture was a thrift store find that was spruced up with some yellow paint.
The changing mat is the 30" 4 Sided Changing Pad made by LA Baby and it works great even though it says it has a width of 16".
there is so much to love here!
Impeccable taste!
This is my favorite entry. Love the curtains, ceiling, light fixture, artwork, and blocks in the jar. Beautiful. Great job.
Yes - Premier Prints is a great place to go for inexpensive fabric and they have chevron stripes in several colors.
Great job! Where did you get the flower print elephant? I love that!
i adore this room! especially the artwork!
No doubt, the room is sweet. But not a fraction as sweet as the little one that lays his head there. We love you, Atticus. G-Pop and Gammi!
Also loving the blocks in the jar! Ours have been in the box, waiting for me to make a bag, but I too might have to copy...sweet room!
love it
Great job baby! Lot's of people love that room! I'm a lucky lucky man.
Please could you tell me where you got the box inserts for the expedit? They look great!
maybe my fave so far! nicely done :)
You have proved beyond a reasonable doubt that less is more...wonderful vision for such a small space and very peaceful..........you are a winner in my book...
that is perfection!
Thank you so much everyone!
The elephant is made by Color Zoo. I found him inexpensively on eBay, but you can also find him on Amazon as well.
The box inserts for the expedit are also from IKEA. They're called prant.
Love it.
this room- from the colors to the patterns to the pictures- is just amazing, so well done and put together! brilliant! i am wondering- what are those blue and green stacked shapes beside the "boo" card?
Wow! This is gorgeous!
that pig + mustache combo made my day. love all the thoughtful, creative details!
Lovely, creative,so much style in a tiny space WOW only 25 sq. A closet never looked so bright cheery and also stunning.
Every time I pop in there are more sweet comments, thank you bunches!
The blue + green stacked toys are nesting cups made by Kid-O.
I'm gonna have to say it, if my daughters room loses, I hope it's to this one. It's pretty great <3
oh everytime i look, i see something new and fun and fantastic...and inevitably come up with another question...the 'ring' toy behind the origami hats/boats...where ever did you find that? i would hire you in a second to design my babe's room, love your style!
It's a beautiful room!!! Love the colors, the art work the curtain...omgosh love it all!!
closet has a window? wow
It looks like you won! You so deserve it. You did a fabulous job for such a small space.
Love it. Where is the "you are loved" print from?
thanks andrec!
I made the "you are loved" artwork using a Shanna Murray decal (http://shannamurray.bigcartel.com/), a small chalkboard, and some grosgrain ribbon. Super easy!
@mariyadessa - It didn't always have a window. This room was originally part of the back porch but a previous owner closed it in, making it a closet and installed glass block on that wall. When we bought the house my dad + my husband turned the space into an office for me and removed the glass block to put in a window.
I am so inspired how you created such a big splash with so little space! I'm particularly in love with the 2 fox art pieces on the wall. If it's not too bold of me to ask, which etsy designer created them?
Kristina, this space is so cheerful! And I'm impressed by what you were able to do with the space. I don't know if you're still checking the comments here, but if you are I'd loved to know what brand you used for the changing pad cover. I'm thinking about getting that same pad but I haven't found any covers that are the right size for the pad's 30x16 dimensions. Are you using a 32" one, and if so, does it ever pop off? I imagine that would be annoying during changing. Thanks!
