I’ve rounded up several folding chairs that will seamlessly blend into your home when they’re needed but can be folded up and stashed away when they are not.
1. Vintage Leg-o-matic Folding Chairs: I couldn’t talk about folding chairs without talking about these great finds. They are very sturdy and fold up remarkably well. I scored big time and found a pair on the sidewalk but have frequently seen them in antique stores, craigslist, Etsy and ebay. So keep your eyes peeled and you won’t be disappointed.
2. Lina Leather Folding Chair from Design Within Reach, $150
3. Lucite Folding Chair from ATG Stores, $138.90 for set of 2
4. Vintage Faux Bois Folding Chair from Etsy, $45.00
5. NISSE Folding Chair from IKEA, $12.99
6. Xtra Folding Aluminum Chair from Crate & Barrel, $54.95

Shaw's Original Fir...
I've been seeing a set of those Leg-o-matic chairs for sale on Chicago CL for a few weeks:

ballard designs have some attractive ones...
can't decide if I love or hate the pantone ones
These are some great ideas! Thank you.
For the love of all that is holy, don't buy the Jeff. we had them as extra chairs for a while and while I admit to loving IKEA generally, they are so uncomfortable! Wobbly too. Yikes.
I have four Leg-o-matic chairs from my great aunt. They are wonderfully comfortable and sturdy. Everyone who watches me open them is amazed.
My grandmother, and then my mom, had a set of six leg-o-matic chairs. I remember the fire-bucket procession of cousins bringing these chairs out of the attic on Sundays and holidays.
Guests were always amazed to see them unfold into full-sized, comfortable dining chairs.
I just saw that Costco is selling a chair for $30 that is a lot like a leg o matic. It's wood and fabric. If you recovered the plain beige fabric with something a little more fun, it could be really great. Great post!
