I'm in the market for a new rug, but it has to be soft and comfortable enough to sit and play on. I have two little boys who will be using it in our living room, the main play area. I recently bought West Elm's Zigzag rug for another room, and while it is lovely, it isn't soft at all. Can anyone recommend a soft natural rug?
Love that first shot...where is that beautiful rug from?!
i've been in love with rugs like this for a while and now that the dust is settling on my home renovation i'm on the market for a couple. can anyone recommend a company that offers custom-size rugs like this, but that ships from Europe? i'm looking for a pair for my flat in barcelona but internet is only turning up american companies... thanks!
@cakowalik: I have been shopping for a natural (jute, sisal, seagrass) rug for the last couple of months. I have more than 10 samples in my apartment right now. West Elm actually has the very softest one I've found -- the one that is half chenille, half jute, in a zig zag pattern (but, oddly enough, is not the one actually named zig zag). Their jute boucle rug is also very much on the soft end of this family of materials. Based on my extensive search lately, you really won't find any natural fiber rugs softer than those. So if you want to know what's possible, I would suggest checking those out.
And if anyone else can tell me softer jute rugs, I would love to hear about them!
I think any natural material mixed with a fabric: denim, wool, chenille, would automatically be softer. West Elm's sister, Pottery Barn, also has a couple. I wonder if there's a softness scale between sisal, jute, seagrass, et c.
