From scullery maid to princess, from beast to handsome prince, caterpillar to butterfly, we love a transformation. Over on Aubrey and Lindsay, we halted at this picture. We knew the bed, it's the Colette bed from Crate and Barrel that we sleep in every night; it was the nightstand that intrigued us. Where was it from?
Turns out that it's the Rast chest from Ikea. This plain wood piece is made lovely with a little stain, a little paint, some great drawer pulls and a lot of ingenuity to become a piece we'd be happy to have next to our own bed. For the full instructions on how to do it, visit Aubrey & Lindsay.

White Enamel Four-P...
I made one of these inspired by this very hack. Mine was not as clean looking, but it was definitely an improvement over the untreated pine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnerd/4452760421/
wow- what an improvement over the original!
fantastic.
I love these every time I see someone else's DIY version. They are next on my to do list!
wow!! FANFREAKINTASTIC!
Hah, I just did this very Ikea hack this weekend. I used a darker stain (not happy with Minwax dark walnut!) and Anthropologie drawer pulls.
I also tried doing this after seeing a post about Aubrey and Lindsay on designsponge a couple months back; I just using an ebony stain for a more black / white look and matte ringpulls. It looks nice from afar, but the dressers are too small proportionally to a king sized bed. I wish they were a little deeper and I have issues opening the drawers (in addition to painting the face, I also painted the edges which was probably not a good idea as they now stick together).
I did this, too, with Anthropologie knobs that I found on sale for a more eclectic look... They are really adorable!
Wow, love this! Answer to my "where can I find a decent dresser for under $300?" dilemma is here.
@ericat - I have the same issue with the dressers not being deep enough.
To fix the drawer sliding issue - pull out the drawers and rub a bar of soap back and forth a few times over the indent that the rails sit on. Did that about 6 months ago to mine and they are working just fine for me!
I adore the headboard!
Even though (or perhaps because) the pulls make me think 'nipple rings' - LOVE!
This looks great!! Love it!

Wow, I've been struggling to find reasonable nightstands and losing the fight, I am absolutely trying this! They're the perfect size and exactly what I need (uh, well, After they're hacked of course).
Can anyone tell me where the bedding comes from?
