Samantha and Jeromy's home is like a playground: everywhere you look, there's something that grabs your attention, something fun to play with. Or another way to look at it: a compact museum, filled with nostalgic objects that can trigger childhood memories.

Main_SFMansion.jpg

Name: Polly
Location: Pacific Heights
Type:2 Bedroom Flat in an 1800's Mansion
Years Lived: 1

On the West Coast, we rarely come across architecture that dates back a hundred years, so when we had the opportunity to visit Polly's historic home, we jumped at the chance. The apartment part of a Broadway St. mansion that was built in 1898. After only one year its original owners sold it to William H. Metson, a well-known attorney in SF. Thanks to the care of all of its owners, this home still boasts impeccable craftsmanship with beautiful details.

Name: Josh Ganshorn and Jen Zahigian
Location: Oakland, California (near Jack London Square)
Owned/Rented: Owned
Size: 1650 sq. feet
Type: Loft
Years Lived: Owned 5 years, lived in 3+ years (took a couple years to build)

It's been said that finding the right home is a lot like falling in love, Hollywood style: The minute you cross the threshold, you just...know. You inspect every detail, you think about the changes and renovations, you imagine yourself living there. But what happens when you don't find that perfect home? You can keep looking--or take a risk. Josh and Jen did just that when they decided to take an empty 1920s warehouse with concrete floors and turn it into an ideal home for themselves.

01_10.02.09_OpenShelving.jpgWe posted about open shelving in bathrooms previously on Apartment Therapy, but we love the idea of using the shelves to enhance the decor. We absolutely adore the aquatic themed bathroom in the first photo. A collection of starfish, coral, and shells is what you would be surrounded by when taking a bath.

We are not sure how is it possible that we didn't know about Gudrun Sjoden until now. We discovered the store's website searching for inspiration on the web. Our first impression was that the style and the clothing are very similar to Anthropologie. In many ways they are indistinguishable. Check out more photos after the jump...

We love the portfolio of London based artist, Claire Scully. Her site features a great variety of drawings and paintings as well as some of her three dimensional work. Check out more examples after the jump...

01_09.29.09_CommunityBookcase.jpgSo much of what we post about is what we would like to have in our own home. This wonderful idea of a community bookcase made us think of ways how to share with our community more than we already do. We donate to Goodwill regularly, but how great would it be to create something that everyone in your neighborhood could use and enjoy.

Many of you might have heard about French Paper. They are a great source for paper goods, cards, napkins, wrapping paper etc. Recenlty we discovered that they also sell affordable art called Decor-a-board. Check out some of our favorites after the jump...

We previously posted about Amy Ruppel's State Birds Series, today we wanted to share with you a collection of state birds prints from Dutch Door Press. Their approach is very different, much more subtle and delicate. Check it out after the jump...

With colder days just around the corner, we have been looking at warm blankets and winter decor. Through our search we came across a story from the Domino archives about Tartan. The patterns can be very classy and as decorating elements somewhat courageous and unexpected.
