(Re) Introducing Jen Bekman's 20 x 200 on-line print gallery — It’s a huge art week here in NYC, with Scope, The Armory Show and the Bridge Art Fair bringing galleries and artists from all over the world to town. Get out there and take a look! But if you come home lamenting that lots of the art you enjoyed was way to big for your small apartment, not to mention WAY out of your price range — gallerist and democratizer of art, Jen Bekman, has a solution (can you spare $20 for a piece of art?)

Introducing Jessica Baker who pulls copper and solar plate etchings, monotypes and monoprints on the etching press in her Clinton Hill studio. In the works we are showing here, you can see her interest in circles as a powerful archetype of spirit and the cycle of life (the bold color monotypes) begin to imprint itself directly onto materials collected from nature. Most recently, she has been printing on leaves collected from around Brooklyn, primarily in Prospect Park.

Introducing Anna Atkins, one of the earliest female photographers who pioneered the use of cyanotype (aka "sunprints") in the mid 1800s to record the beauty and variety of underwater plants. As photo processes go, cyanotypes are super approachable — learn how to make them yourself below!

Introducing Elizabeth Gower, an artist from Australia currently in residence here in NYC. And lucky for us, she has brought along her ever-growing collection of paper plate cut outs (inspired by snowflakes and numbering up to approx 2,000, and none repeated!) Titled, Amor Infiniti, she began making these in 1997 and has installed them in various configurations and locations.

She was inspired by memories of her grandmother and aunts always compulsively making lace, needlework, and crochet afghans, and her grandfather making beadwork.
