A fairly accurate representation of the Apartment Therapy LA team

I did the math the other day and discovered that for the past three years (roughly adds up to 1,432 posts), you have allowed me to ramble on about home décor from every angle imaginable, ranging from obvious topics like color combinations and room makeovers to the ridiculous, like comparing rooms to French desserts. And for that--Thank You. I'm sad to say that my time here at Apartment Therapy comes to an end today, so I hope you'll indulge me one last time as I settle into my exit interview...

033110_turq1.jpgI've always wondered how Pantone picks the color of the year, and I wouldn't be surprised if the answer included a bottle of Cazadores, a bag of limes, some Triple Sec, and a Costco-sized bag of Hint of Lime Tostito chips. Well, no matter how they came to their decision, the fine folks at Pantone picked turquoise as the 2010 color of the year, and we're taking a look to see how it translates for this little girl's room.

033010_forgrelia.jpgThis was supposed to be the week where I was going to replace the water filter for my house--turn off the water supply, throw out the mucky filter and swap out the container with a brand new one--but instead, I'll be heading up north to say goodbye to a friend who died unexpectedly. I wasn't exactly looking forward to lumbering through the front flower bed, fumbling between the garden hose and the overgrown jasmine vine...But when I heard the news that my friend had died very tragically and quite suddenly--well. I'm thinking about her, and my home, and wondering what I should say.

032910_Fieldborg1.jpgGuys, I think it's safe to say that some members of Team ATLA are still recuperating from yesterday's impromptu food tour of LA. What started out as an innocent brunch ended up as a major feeding frenzy that will probably take a few more days to recover from completely. So while we lay near-comatose on the sofa after grazing on nachos, ceviche, margaritas (Loteria), burger, beer floats (The Golden State), cupcakes, and iced coffees (Lark), we're going to gaze upon this pristine kitchen from Norway. It's a mix of old and new, taking cues from the home's 1925 architecture and combining it with glossy Ikea kitchen cabinets and sleek countertops.

032610_KBrown1.jpgThis morning, I was greeted by two rather intriguing emails. One was a press release announcing Jennifer Love Hewitt's new dating advice book The Day I Shot Cupid; the other was from an interior design site touting advice tips from famed Hollywood designer Kenneth Brown. And while some would choose one over the other, I figured: Why not present both? After all, it's Friday: whether or not you spend your weekend improving your home or trying to find a special someone, at least you're covered. Well, sort of...

032510_Raf02.jpgI'm seemingly obsessed with Scandi blogs this week--it's strange, I keep finding really, really good ones and it would be a crime not to share some of these with you all. Yesterday's kitchen seemed like it had a bit of 70's retro nods mixed in; today's kitchen from Ralfefarfars Paradis is more along the lines of a rustic shabby chic, but just as cozy and quaint.

032410_viola01.jpgHow cute is this quaint little kitchen? Thanks to one very large window and off-white walls, Stine's kitchen is sunny and bright with simple, perfect pops of color. If you're looking for some budget-friendly (yet highly effective) spring decorating inspiration, check out how she repurposes her vintage finds and other accessories and puts them to good use in her kitchen.

032310_MP.jpgI was really dragging my feet on this month's Musical Playlist post for two very specific reasons. One: A few AT readers had sent emails after last month's post, asking why I always posted "hipster music for old people." Ouch. Two: Gregory has been after me for months about not using our glorious library of House Tours as musical inspirations. To which I responded each and every time, "Look, what if I pick something that offends the owners of said homes?" Unfortunately, I can put it off no longer. After hours of listening to what sounded like Ryan Seacrest's iPod, I present to you a musical montage of some of LA's amazing house tours paired with pop songs. And to those of you whose homes ended up on this playlist, please accept my apologies in advance. Especially Bryan. I'm really, REALLY sorry. Really.

032210_Gaga01.jpgWhen we first ever saw a photo of Lady Gaga, our initial thought was, "Where are her pants?" But it's been quite a few months--and quite a few wardrobe changes--and now Lady GaGa continues to surprise us not only with what she wears, but her dedication to being the most bizarre fashion icon we've seen in awhile. And while you wouldn't catch us stumbling around in public wearing any of these outfits--not even on Halloween--we applaud her efforts by seeing how they might translate as interior decor. The end result? Really, really quite good.

031910_Texas1.jpgWhen it comes to color vs. bright white interiors, we're seemingly on the fence: One week, we'll feature gorgeous (typically Scandinavian) interiors in all white; the next, we're celebrating vibrant colors (banned be damned). But if there was a way to combine the clean, crisp look of a white interior space with the attitude of an amazing Technicolor dreamhouse, we'd venture to say that photographer Tosca Radigona did just that in her Texas home.
