The Metropolitan Museum is now quietly entering the blogosphere with the Cloisters' new garden blog. The Cloisters is a branch of the Met that houses Medieval art, architecture, and gardens in its own building in Fort Tryon Park in the north of Manhattan.

Panicum virgatum. This is what caught my attention when reading Aaron's post on Gwen Calderon's apartment on the UWS apartment and the ways in which space was used.

Out on the patio this special plant was chosen to act as a screen. Learn more about it after the jump...
AT is wrapping up pet month, so could not resist posting these photos and story I received this past week from Heliconia:
"I was inspired by Apartment Therapy’s beautiful pictures of fresh flowers and decided to try it. All of us (the cat, my husband, and I) really enjoyed them.
However, the cat enjoyed them the most..."
Squirrels and other little furry creatures absolutely love bulbs and will sniff them out in a heartbeat. Here is a potential solution, provided you can get the raw material, and the picture above is a clue...
I have enough challenges figuring out what the plants want. Today I am just going to be happy for my temporary success in making one happy. After working for over a year to get this vine enough sun, food and water, it is now rewarding me with the coolest blossoms.
This week's flowers were submitted by Tamara. They blend with their environment, and prove that just a few simple flowers can transform a space. As temperatures shift here in NYC, these cool images are also the perfect segue from the heat of summer.
Enjoy a few more images of her flowers, and a link to more of her work, after the jump..

Prior to Blanc's recently published book I had to live off of a few web images and videos (like the one above) to get a better sense of what his work is like. Now I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of 'The Vertical Garden' which, by the reviews online, promises to have 300 gorgeouse pictures of Blanc's work from around the world.
Of all the flower boxes I have seen this summer this had to be the brightest and most vibrant, not to mention there must be at least 40 linear feet of plants! Lots of people stop to stare when they walk by, but I wonder if they like it or think it's over the top...

This week's flowers come from Pamela who is enjoying the flowers that are in season right now. Her vase in her new remodeled bedroom looks like a portal into a nearby meadow!
